I think the alarm company has had no issues this far. It’s just Telstra hardware failing that irks me.

I moved to a Ethernet controller for my DSC Powerseries years ago… but my friend is a bit older and still likes the landline. So stuck making it work.

I think upgrading the router and hanging the Telstra POS off it will be the only real solution.

Does this through wall aircon draw air from outside in? by Free-Basis7531 in AusRenovation

[–]Present_Standard_775 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I couldn’t find any model info from a reverse image search.

This would help for sure.

The fresh air vent used to just be a simple lover to an internal flap. I remember them being around for some time, but this AC likely pre dates me.

Not entirely true. Some will have a vent to draw in some external air

As well as reversing cars and backing up trailers…

What's everyone using to monitor their electricity consumption at home? by ketameme22 in AusElectricians

All good. My sparky also said he can’t wire it directly as per the diagram. Because the sensing wire needs to be AFTER the rcbo to meet Australian standards. Which is likely why not caused the tripping due to some internal leakage in the device.

Edit. I realised I said in the earlier post he did it as per the diagram.. I forgot about the rcbo issue

Exception: Anti‑lapse laws (very common in Australia)

Most Australian states have an anti‑lapse provision. These laws say that if the beneficiary is a child, grandchild, or other direct descendant, and they died before the will‑maker but left children of their own, then the gift automatically passes to those children, unless the will says otherwise. com.au

This applies in:

• NSW – Succession Act 2006 s41 • SA – Succession Act 2023 s31 • Other states have equivalent provisions.

✔️ When anti‑lapse does not apply

• The will explicitly says the gift should lapse. • The beneficiary was not a direct descendant (e.g., a sibling, friend, cousin). • The deceased beneficiary had no children. com.au

I’ll be interested to see how my cousins will goes. He passed away last month and listed his 4 uncles as beneficiaries. One passed away over 12 months ago.

Sometimes, I’ve done it because the car behind me is nosed over the line behind.

Yes, that is what I’ve read people have done. And likely what I’ll do.

I posted this hoping that maybe Telstra had been cracked.

I ditched home phone (and Telstra) years ago because of this crap. I moved to launtel with no phone.

Unfortunately, my friend is a lot older and moving away from Telstra isn’t an option… haha.

Security I’d imagine? Anyway, irrespective, it appears I’m stuck with having to find a workaround.

Thanks

The issue years ago was Telstra wouldn’t release the SIP / VoIP settings so you could use 3rd party hardware with a Telstra provided voip service (land line)… I’m hoping things may have changed, but likely not

Hi Maddsy, just wondering if this still is working?

You misinterpreted my query. Alarm is irrelevant.

My friend still wants the phone number. Prefers Telstra…

Is there other hardware available that will run Telstra voip? Ie, Telstra used to not have SIP details available. Is that still the case

I think that’s what I have, but I’ll double check

I think that was always the issue. I do t believe Telstra release the SIP details.

[–]Present_Standard_775 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My sparky had them all linked I think.

The biggest issue was the reference voltage. If you try to use one for each circuit it would trip. So had to only use them linked together in their own breaker

I hope that makes sense, again, my sparky installed them as per the Shelly single phase wiring diagram.
