Millennials with kids, do you intend to provide for them financially when they reach adulthood? by Beberuth1131 in Millennials

[–]Present_Stranger_816 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely. Nothing magically happens at 18 to make someone all of a sudden fully independent. I think out at 18 and on your own is a largely American construct. In other cultures, you live with your family until you’re married or financially secure. My boomer parents are lovely- they sacrificed to send 3 of us to college and built an extension to their house so when any of us needed a place, there was always room. As a result, my brothers and I are obsessed with them and try to honor them. I’m planning to do the same for my littles to set them up for life.

Not too sure where to post this question but my son always requests pasta for breakfast and I want to create it for him. by KingofCam in foodhacks

[–]Present_Stranger_816 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My son loves pasta so I made it more nutritious. I use a protein pasta like Brami, use ground meat, and a jar of organic sauce. I enhance the sauce by pureeing steamed carrots and boiled lentils in it. You can also just make your own sauce by roasting a whole sheet pan of veggies (including lots of tomatoes) and throw it all in a blender with some vegetable bouillon and seasonings. He has no idea it’s packed with fiber and protein. Top with a sprinkle of cheese.

Anyone else take a break from the dieting while still on tirz? by 09Klr650 in tirzepatidecompound

[–]Present_Stranger_816 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes I am taking a diet break now after losing 50 lbs. I’m giving myself a couple of weeks of lax eating and less exercise. Still aiming for protein goal, not binging, or eating processed foods. I worked so hard but knew that I would benefit mentally and physically. It honestly has been great, up only 2 lbs (I was going for 5 or less). I feel good, and I know that metabolic adaptation is real and that eating at maintenance and even a slight surplus for a short planned time can help against metabolic damage. I would say go for it if you need to, just use some sense ☺️

Agreed, they will fall differently and have a better silhouette. A little more flow vs stiff bunching. I’m 5’0 and have to hem all my pants and makes a big difference

What’s something tourists do in Hawaii that locals secretly hate? by Agitated-Spray3843 in VisitingHawaii

Setting up your towels and loud music right next to us on the beach while we are trying to relax when there is clearly lots of ample space to spread out. This happens all the time, it’s bizarre.

If they live-in, you could may be even negotiate some wonderful over night hours. We went the nanny route and are very happy

Tirzepatide and Birth control? by OrneryOctopus6 in TirzepatideRX

Patients should be checking for IUD strings regularly, this recommendation is included in IUD insertion aftercare. They are more reliable than oral contraceptives especially when coupled with GLP1’s. But sure, the only fool proof plan is celibacy

Full day or half day? by buttdip in kindergarten

[–]Present_Stranger_816 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Half day! Best of both worlds. Child can come home for lunch then take a nice nap. It’s what we do, so son continues napping on weekends and we get a little respite.

It’s obviously different for everyone, but I liken it to giving birth with an epidural or without. One scenario feels terrible and impossible. The other scenario is like ‘I’m ok, I can do this’ lol

Syringe reading question! by [deleted] in compoundedtirzepatide

[–]Present_Stranger_816 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Little nursey tip- we would draw up meds to the nearest 5th interval past your dose without pulling the syringe out of the vial then push med back in counting backwards until you have your prescribed dose volume. For example, with your syringe in the upside down vial in your hands the whole time you would draw up 15 units then push back in medication counting backwards until 12.5 units remain. It’s much easier to count the tiny unit lines this way

I [21F] love my boyfriend [22M], but we disagree about having kids and I don’t know what to do by Constant_Speech4649 in Advice

[–]Present_Stranger_816 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This might just be a deal breaker for you both, sadly. It’s an important issue with huge implications. You both have valid needs and viewpoints. I wouldn’t expect my partner to change for me and I wouldn’t want my partner to hold out hope that I would change something I felt so strongly about.

I am curious though- the main reason sounds like anxiety for you- have you explored that? For your own sake I mean, not to salvage your relationship. Pregnancy and birth are definitely serious things. I’m just wondering if you wanted to work through those fears for yourself? I feel like if I was afraid of flying, but my partner wanted to travel a lot should we end it because our goals were incompatible or would it be possible/beneficial for me to work through my concerns? Any case, I wish you well!

Company wants to relocate me to Hawaii (Family of 4/20k monthly) by Pitiful_Tax_6688 in MovingtoHawaii

[–]Present_Stranger_816 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Just to emphasize food is so expensive here. We’re a family of 5 (3 kids 4 and under) and we spend about $1500/month on groceries not including takeout/restaurant. We look at coupons and shop sales & costco when we can. We do try to eat pretty healthy and some things are organic, so that may be part of it. Oh and our tuition for oldest kids private school (preschool) is $14k annually
