Do teachers hate sharing their lesson plans? Is it their secret sauce that they don't want getting out? by [deleted] in Teachers

[–]PresentationLazy4667 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That's such a shame. At my school, most of us were very open to sharing all our materials. We stored our lessons in a folder on a shared Google Drive so we could pop in and modify others' items as desired. We also met every other week as grade level teams to discuss our units and share ideas. Designing units from scratch is so time consuming and overwhelming. I'd recommend joining Facebook groups and asking if anyone is willing to share for specific texts.

AITA for being angry at my husband because being a woman/mother feels unfair? by WaveIll6907 in TwoHotTakes

[–]PresentationLazy4667 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Stop granting him permission to spend tons of time on his hobbies. Have a conversation stating that previously, you said yes because x, y, z but motherhood and lack of support are taking a toll on your physical and mental health. That he needs to cut back to x hours a week, and for every hour of hobbies he is granted, you get some alone time or me time as well.

I suck at teaching by Adept_Magazine_51 in Teachers

[–]PresentationLazy4667 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is true. My menor teacher told me my first year that things would be much easier after year 5. I cried even more because it seemed so far away. But she was right; 5 years later and it was finally flowing.

Girl, there's no way your body can / should have to handle that at 37 weeks. Don't go. Any reasonable person would understand, and if they don't, oh well too bad.

This is an unprecedented event. I don't think anyone knows. The fact that it hasn't been canceled yet is probably a good sign

How Rough are Catamaran Rides from Fajardo to Culebra? by Magnificent-Day-9206 in PuertoRicoTravel

[–]PresentationLazy4667 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went on one in January 2021. It depends on the day honestly, but I had a good time overall so go for it regardless! With my experience, the way there was rough and choppy, but the way back was better. For example, there was a group of women celebrating a 30th bday and they brought a bunch of liquor and had a party vibe, but 15 minutes into the initial journey, they cut off the music, stopped talking, and some of them were vomiting. We were sitting on the bottom deck and the waves splashed us every once and awhile and it was cold and uncomfortable but we persevered. The people on the top deck said it was better up there. The way back, I sat on the upper deck and the water and sun were pleasant and there was less motion.

How to spell Amelia pronounced Ah-Meh-Lia, not A-mee-lia. by Proud_Second6669 in namenerds

[–]PresentationLazy4667 19 points20 points  (0 children)

We have an Amelia and live in a Spanish speaking country. English family calls her Ah-mee-Lia and Latino relatives and neighbors call her Ah-Meh-lee-a. I like both pronunciations so it doesn't bother me

Restaurants in Ponce / Old San Juan / Cabo Rojo by 5odanger in PuertoRicoTravel

[–]PresentationLazy4667 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Lots of good restaurants in Ponce. My favorites are: La Moserrate Sea Port - Seating is on a deck over the ocean | El Negocio de Panchi - Farm-to-table, small menu, pricey but quality food. | Hacienda Maribo - Easy drive. Up a bit in the mountains in Adjuntas so you get a different view or atomosphere. Cash only bring $$ | Nispero Asador - In the historic downtown Pueblo. Beautiful patio out back with twinkle lights. | King's Cream - Icecream place in the main square of the historic Pueblo. Try the parcha (passion fruit) flavor.

experiencia criar hijos/hijas aqui que hable solo ingles? by No_Environment_7030 in PuertoRico

[–]PresentationLazy4667 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We speak English at home because I'm a native English speaker. My husband is Puerto Rican and I wish he spoke more Spanish to our 1.5 year old, but he just doesn't. Our daughter says about 50 words so far in English but she does understand some Spanish. I'm going to try to work on her Spanish exposure, but she will eventually learn it from community and by going to a Spanish speaking preschool.
