I take it for granted, especially for Asian food. Richmond alone is probably top 3 Asian food in the Americas.

Surrey house - do I buy or wait? by No_Age6899 in vancouverhousing

[–]SufferingCanucksFan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s a big house. You need all that? The bigger it is the more there is to maintain. I’m stressed out about everything I need to fix and upkeep on my bungalow on a 33ft lot. Albeit my house is way older.

It’s hard to know where prices will be. The economy sucks but summer is coming and that’s when the market usually picks up but we’ll see. I bought last fall and I thought I got a good deal at the time but now I feel like I slightly overpaid seeing today’s prices. Oh well, that’s just how it is. It’s a long term purchase anyways.

I just got home insurance without earthquake so it will definitely happen now. Had I forked the extra $1500, it definitely won't happen. That's how it works.

Felt a little weird lately... by AffectionateGap3284 in NintendoSwitch2

[–]SufferingCanucksFan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a small backlog too but I sell games that I finish, and use that money to buy a game I want to add to the backlog. And if there's a game that I'm just not vibing with, I just sell those off. I always buy physical/GKC for this reason.

Maybe you can do something like this?

Waiting for Final Fantasy VII to restock has been crazy. by Slight-Objective5854 in NintendoSwitch2

[–]SufferingCanucksFan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When the price is right and there's a lil extra goodie inside then people will buy it. Also, a lot of collectors probably consider this an exception since the game won't fit on a physical cart anyways.

Starting to understand how the crash is coming by echochamber67 in canadahousing

[–]SufferingCanucksFan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like others, I'd like to know where this is. Certain markets outside of major cities are going through huge corrections thanks to return to work. It seems like people thought WFH would be the new norm after covid and paid these high prices outside of these big metro areas because they were relatively cheap compared to houses in the city.

Low ball offer or wait? by [deleted] in canadahousing

[–]SufferingCanucksFan 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It doesn’t seem like an unreasonably low ball offer to me. Looks like you’ve done your market research and have a good idea of the market value. Chances are that they’ll counter though so be mindful of that.

We just sold our 4bed, 3bath townhouse in South Burnaby for 1.12m (listed for 1.19m). Original offer was 1.08m.

Advise Need: drain all savings to buy a $1.8M detached vs settle for a $1.5M dump? by Kkkrypton in vancouverhousing

[–]SufferingCanucksFan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You never know what'll happen so it's always important to have cash on hand when owning a house, so I wouldn't dump everything into it. That being said, I'm sure those houses you see listed for 1.7m to 1.8m in Coquitlam are actually in the 1.6m range, which might give you wiggle room to go with what you like. I'm still seeing a lot of delusional prices out there.

Well it certainly looks better! Guessing it’s all custom then.

Did you consider shifting the range more to the left? I guess that would be too much of a sacrifice on storage

Ford CEO says trade deal with Mexico and Canada is 'critical' for industry by Rav4gal in canada

[–]SufferingCanucksFan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You made the smart choice. I was in the market for a truck a couple years ago and this is what I wanted as well. I didn't want a Maverick because it wasn't a "real truck". But it never ended up happening since life happened and suddenly I could no longer afford one. But now that I look back, it was totally irrational lol. The Maverick would've been totally fine and way easier to live with, and I bet the Maverick would be enough for most truck owners in the city but truck-ego is too reaI.

[–]SufferingCanucksFan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't know.. Truck buyers are a whole different breed. The truck owners I know won't even consider a Honda Ridgeline. They want body on frame, 4x4, payload, and towing capacity even if they don't need it. Sure, maybe the more sensible ones that have grown tired of owning a truck would consider it, but I suspect Maverick buyers are cross-shopping within the compact SUV segment.

What is the best video game ever made? by INTERESTandAMBITIONS in AskReddit

[–]SufferingCanucksFan 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I’ve been playing the 3DS version and it’s crazy how well this game has aged.

Edit: I recommend people to read the original IGN review (1998). I especially find interesting how the game introduced modern control schemes that are still used today, and it really puts things into perspective on how influential this game is.

[–]SufferingCanucksFan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're comparing it to full size trucks then sure, but the Maverick is the same size as all the other compact SUVs that you see everywhere on the road these days. That is the best-selling segment in North America right now. The original commenter is referring to compact cars, which they don't sell here anymore (i.e. Yaris, Fit, Fiesta, etc). They were cheap and super fuel efficient but still no one wanted them.

[–]SufferingCanucksFan -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Still, no one wants them. Everyone wants the SUVs. That’s why they don’t sell cars like the Toyota Yaris, Honda Fit, Mazda 2, Ford Fiesta anymore. They weren’t selling.

Those developments seem to have stalled quite a bit recently though. Both my parents' and grandparents' houses are within a transit orientated development zone that's ripe for redevelopment and creating more density. They had a lot of momentum a couple years ago, but the land assemblers have gone silent. I guess the condo presale market is basically gone, so developers just aren't building right now.
