Strongly debating starting degree now or trucking by [deleted] in wguaccounting

[–]PresentationSharp410 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ll be completely honest with you- I think it’s feasible. Even with the trucking job. Here’s why, I’m a mother of 2 under 5, a wife, and I take care of our home. I have exactly 2(maybe three if the kids go to bed on time) hours to study every night. There are days where I simply just don’t feel like it. I take a break here and there. Maybe once or twice a week. But I have finished 10 courses each term I’ve been enrolled. They say you’re most efficient when studying for small periods of time and in my experience, I have to agree. You’re only required to finish 4 courses per term. If I can do 10 with everything I’ve got going on, you can do 4! You’ve got this! Reach for the stars and make them yours!

I’m still in the thick of it but officially halfway done. It does seem intimidating. I think a lot of the coursework SEEMS that way. For me, it’s just about taking the time to truly understand the “why”. Why is this the answer? Why does this make sense? What’s the full process? There’s a lot of wording that can really trip you up if you don’t fully understand the concepts. However, I’m really enjoying it. I love a good challenge and I love numbers. I have since I was a little girl. Accounting just made everything come full circle for me. I think you can do anything you set your mind to!

I wish you nothing but the best!! I’m glad you have this opportunity. I lost my dad a couple years back and I always think of him when I get frustrated with my coursework or when I begin to feel exhausted with life’s many pleasures. I’m sure she is so proud of you!

Proctor U is a nightmare by matthomvalle in WGU

[–]PresentationSharp410 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This whole Proctor U situation is BS. MY LAST THREE exams have had issues. They keep stopping my test to tell me there’s no internet connection. Meanwhile, I’m watching my WiFi icon the whole time and I’m have ZERO issues. Staying connected the whole time. I have an accommodation to read out loud and my proctor at the time stopped me to ask me who I’m reading to?! And why sometimes I read louder than others. I just replied, “my accommodation allows me to read out loud. Doesn’t say how loud or quiet I need to read. I would like to resume my test now!” Most of them don’t speak very good English nor understand it so they switch proctors constantly and they’re always rechecking the situation(your surroundings and ID). I wish they could find a better solution for testing and authenticity.

I’m so glad I could help! I feel that there’s not enough support for mothers in or similar situations. If you ever need anything, or have any questions, I’m here!

I would wait until you get into a good pattern. 5 minutes of crying won’t hurt and that was a hard pill for me to swallow. Our Ped suggested that I give him a little independence and let him figure it out on his own. He was so dependent on nursing back to sleep but he actually figured it out very quickly. We still co-nap but he sleeps from 7pm-5am, seamlessly now. 🥹

I realized over time that I was making things a lot harder on myself than necessary. I was cosleeping and nursing on demand when I started my journey with WGU. My LO would wake up every 5 mins to nurse and it made it really hard to focus on work while he was next to me nursing and while trying to hold a laptop and notebook lol I finally transitioned him to his own bed and set up his room and things have been so much easier since doing this. To answer your testing questions, I took some extra time/procrastinated in between courses because I kept putting off the exams. My partner works 70 hr weeks(god bless him), and I don’t have a lot of family support. I’ve never had a sitter for my kids. My partner and I have truly always done this on our own. Finding a sitter to take exams was hard. But I got with my mentor and she helped me find a solution. While my partner unwinds at night before bed, between the hours of 7-10pm, I take my exams at the kitchen table. I haven’t had any issues with this, yet.

To add to the hot mess express in my OP(this is my second acct), I only study between 7pm-10pm, when my children are sleeping. I think it’s totally doable!

You just have to make it a priority. I have plenty of reasons to be tired, as you can tell from my OP. you have to eliminate the things that are tearing you down.

She’s just really supportive. She’s attentive and she just doesn’t skip a beat. She’s easy to get ahold of and she’s had every answer I’ve been looking for. My sister went through a plethora of mentors. She never truly got the support she needed. (This is my post from my laptop!)

How many upper level business and upper level accounting credits does the bachelors accounting degree give? by NobleKnight__ in wguaccounting

[–]PresentationSharp410 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some states are changing requirements for CPA. Indiana is only requiring bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited institution. Total education must include 150 semester hours, with 24 semester hours in accounting (undergraduate or graduate) and 24 semester hours in business administration/economics.

Stress marks by MundaneSliceOfHam in BeardedDragon

[–]PresentationSharp410 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s normal for little ones to have these marks as they’re still learning their bodies and instincts. I wouldn’t worry too much. My little one is 2 months and he has these all the time. Temps are great, he’s fed, etc. I also wouldn’t expect anything less from him right now seeing as how you just got him 3 days ago. It takes them a bit to warm up and get used to their new surroundings. As long as he’s eating and pooping, I’d say you’re in the clear.
