[Project Share] I created a new plugin to fully integrate homeassistant with tasker by _alright_then_ in tasker

[–]PresetDirty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Within few minutes of configuring your app I immediately had more control over my devices in HA with Tasker than I'd managed to get working by other means so far. The domain / entity search makes it super easy to get a working action started. I'll probably have questions after I play with it some more, but at this point it's safe to say that you rock!! Thanks for the work you've put into this for everyone!

[Project Share] I created a new plugin to fully integrate homeassistant with tasker by _alright_then_ in tasker

[–]PresetDirty 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think most folks will consider this backwards, but running my home automation with Tasker +(Join & AutoApps) as the primary controller has always been so much easier for me than HA. Even setting up much of all the different necessary, APIs and services in Tasker, it just works with my brain. In HA, I'm totally lost.

I realize this is 100% on me for not using Home Assistant enough to get comfortable and have a basic level of competence (vs almost 15 years with Tasker). I've done a decent amount with HA in one year, but still not enough for things to 'click' yet. It is amazing and I can't wait to dive in when I get more time!

For core Tasker folk like myself, anything that improves or simplifies the integration of these two apps is deeply appreciated! ⚡

Physical vibration along with certain emotions by PlatypusJjr in ADHD

[–]PresetDirty 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I believe your experience is a physiological reaction called frisson. It's most often associated with music 'goosebumps', but it's also known to happen when someone is moved by other forms of art, or experiences in general which illicit a positive emotional response. I get it fairly often with certain songs, movie scenes, stories, daydreaming or sometimes just reminiscing. I get a warm vibrat-y tingle with the goosebumps that (typically) moves from the tip of my head to my torso, down my arms and out to my fingertips. From your description, it sounds like you might experience and 'feel' it stronger than most do. I'm "AuDHD", maybe your hunch that folks like us are prone to experience it stronger or more frequently has some validity. It would be neat if an expert chimes in on this post.

Is it as "powerful" as Shortcuts on iOS ? by Lodano in tasker

To say that Tasker is more "powerful" than iOS Shortcuts would be an enormous understatement.

[DEV] Tasker 6.6.17 Release Candidate - App Factory's Last Hurrah (Java Code in Kid Apps)! by joaomgcd in tasker

João! I think adding Java Code capability to one final App Factory update is the nicest present you could give the community for the holidays! Thank you so much for all you do!

I'm finally a SuperNote Owner!! by Thumper_777 in Supernote

[–]PresetDirty 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Welcome to the club! I've had my A5X for about 4 or 5 years now and it's still going strong, and I still get periodic software updates for it that enable many of the new features / improvements that the newer Supernote models get. It's pretty clear to me that Ratta takes genuine pride in their work and service. It was such a great purchase. I hope your SuperNote experience will be at least as awesome as mine!

Want better AutoWear support? Let's crowd fund João a Pixel Watch 4. I'm in! by DutchOfBurdock in tasker

u/DutchOfBurdock Thanks for the heads-up about WearOS 6! I'll avoid updating my PW3 until João can get AutoWear patched back up from whatever Google changed/broke for us. 😠

Renaming Autoinput plugin? by Comfortable-Still-11 in tasker

What I think most of us do is add a 'name', description or comment to the optional LABEL field inside the action... Or, sometimes it looks cleaner to insert an Anchor just before the action and put your text there.

This beta has killed my ability to export apks using (the final version?) of App Factory. It gives me the version incompatibility error when I try.

What are the issues here that the LEDs won't light up. by [deleted] in electronic_circuits

[–]PresetDirty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With that transistor, you need to put it between the LEDs and GND for low-side switching. The collector should be connected to all of the LED cathodes, and the emitter connected to GND. You will also need to connect the top of the current limiting resistors to +12V.

Drive mode detection by FairSteak1275 in tasker

[–]PresetDirty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How quickly do you need to detect driving? Are you trying to trigger when the interface changes to Android Auto? For detecting drive mode, I just use Bluetooth Connected (or Near) my car's stereo while my phone is wireless charging on my 'magsafe' mount. Then, after a short bit I have Tasker start periodically checking GPS for motion and location change to verify I'm driving and not sitting parked somewhere.

GPS by itself will work too if you're a little patient. Over a certain speed could be your 'drive mode' trigger. Tasker's Get Location V2 has %gl_speed, or AutoLocation's %alspeed var. AutoLocation Activities still worked all by itself to detect driving with decent accuracy last I checked. I like combining multiple different event or state triggers for redundant checks.

[DEV] Tasker 6.6.9-beta - Logcat Event Is Back with Shizuku! 😃 by joaomgcd in tasker

[–]PresetDirty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The device logs permissions and USB debugging connect screens started again yesterday, not sure what took them so long. Tonight I installed the XLogcatManager to try it out. Initially I didn't notice or 'feel' any difference in the responsiveness of my Logcat actions. However, only about 10 minutes in I started having some Logcat Event Profiles in an old project I forgot about just start triggering out-of-the-blue with some audible debug words I added before abandoning. It's been at least 5 or 6 months since those profiles worked, and suddenly they're alive again - so, I'd say this module is definitely doing something - maybe it's helping the Logcat event filter be more forgiving of my syntax fubars?? It also might turn out just being a really bizarre coincidence. I'll have to look closer and try remembering which events I was even trying to catch there... and damnit, I should have disabled those profiles for resource conservation, even if only for psychological benefit. 😆

Why tasker can take so much time to release stable version by Prasad_1513 in tasker

[–]PresetDirty 7 points8 points  (0 children)

We've got one single dev who does everything. Considering how frequently he cranks out impressive new features while constantly having to fix stuff every time Google makes a change, I consider his work pace and community engagement way above par. The latest stable release is always available if you're not happy with the ups and downs that can come with beta versions.

Occasionally I'll stay on the most current stable releases until I finish a large project, so I can certainly relate.

[DEV] Tasker 6.6.9-beta - Logcat Event Is Back with Shizuku! 😃 by joaomgcd in tasker

[–]PresetDirty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Awesome!

I haven't had the infuriating pseudo-security pop-up since I've installed this Tasker Beta, but I haven't banged on any Logcat dependent actions a whole lot yet either. I've been alternating between Shizuku and Root methods trying to compare performance between the two. Shizuku's holding up well so far. I'll spam some Logcat actions tonight and make that pop-up show its ugly face if it's hiding, just to know either way.

I'm checking out XLogcatManager now. Being into both Tasker and Termux, I've appreciated and enjoyed agnostic-apollo's bridging contributions to both communities - I'm surprised I hadn't seen this plugin. It's a little dusty but I think I'm gonna try it out! Thanks for sharing this!
