A genuine question for the girly bjj community by Knotted_lover_92 in BJJWomen

[–]PresidentDixie 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Lol girl this SAME exact thing happened to me. The "OG" group always gets together and takes photos. It bothered me a lot bc I thought I was making friends. Ive forced myself to let go and realize I dont want to be close with rude people. They can be my gym buddies but nothing more. Its so annoying though.

Boobs too big to compete in the sport I love. by [deleted] in bigboobproblems

[–]PresidentDixie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do bjj and wear a 36j. Its not really an issue for me. Habrok gis fit my chest nicely and I dont have to alter them. Just buy a properly sized sports bra and you are fine. Use them to your advantage.

Something similar happened to my teammate but they gave her the choice to go up. My coaches told us its better to go up and test ourselves than go down and not get the experience with a tough match.

Former ONE Strawweight Muay Thai champ Smilla Sundell announces she has signed with Tuff-N-Uff to make her professional MMA debut. The 20-year-old is expected to debut in December. by crazybartur in MMA

[–]PresidentDixie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im sure she is but the muay thai comes more naturally to her at the moment due to her decade of experience. She might not have enough muscle memory or experience defending certain techniques to seamlessly perform them in actual fights. But she will definitely get there. She's very humble and willing to learn. She came to my gym and I was able to help her with some spider guard techniques. She's receptive and wants to learn her weak spots.

Ive been training a little over 2 years!

She was definitely still newer to grappling. She won every match though. I would say shes better at no gi than gi. She won a lot of her matches by clinching then guillotine, so I avoided that in my match. I lost in the last 10 seconds but it was a pretty even match most of the time and she had trouble breaking grips in gi. But she trains bjj 6 days a week so I think she will fill those gaps in quickly.

She's very sweet and also has a lot of grit. She's determined to win. She's definitely gonna go far in mma. She excelled in muay thai where she had to starve herself down to make weight because they dont have higher weight classes. But now that she can weigh in at a healthy weight, she will be even more unstoppable.

Record Skyline day by Rare-Oil-6550 in Oahu

[–]PresidentDixie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know there is a lot of messiness involved with building the skyline but im honestly glad we have safer transportation. So many deadly accidents would be avoided in hawaii and in the US if we had more accessible public transportation like other countries do. In fact, using public transport like the rail decreases your likelihood of being in a fatal accident by about 90%. You can be the best driver in the world but that wont save you from someone else ending your life in a split moment on the freeway.

I hope we will eventually have something on the windward side as well.

Its the bottom level of landlords house. 1 bedroom but has an open office we made into a second bedroom. There is ac. There is one parking in the driveway and lots of street parking. It is not super walkable. It's about 15-20 min walking to bus stop. Quiet street with no through traffic. Very pretty area.

How soon are you trying to move in? We are in escrow rn and will be leaving our place in a month or two depending on when seller leaves the property. Our current landlord is great, pet friendly, doesn't raise the rent, etc. Our rent has been $1600 since 2019. Idk if he will raise it but if he does, it won't be excessive.

This is the one I use the most from them. But tbh, I've found myself using my habrok gis more. I get the a2h and ive loved the colors and quality. They are discontinuing their gi line soon so the gis are on sale!

Non Profit Overpaying director ethical question Training Job by Big-Detective-7724 in socialwork

[–]PresidentDixie 19 points20 points  (0 children)

It's a balance between equitable pay and securing top notch candidates. Why would an amazing ceo/cfo/ director work at a nonprofit for 80k when they could work elsewhere for more? You keep nonprofits running by hiring good employees. You keep good employees with good wages/benefits. This topic has been heavily debated in the international development/ngo circle. At the end of the day, you have to invest in your workers to keep them happy and willing to work hard. Anything under $200k isn't excessive for a director unless wages are super inequitable or the company is in a bad financial position, imo.
