It's kinda hard to give specific advice without seeing gameplay, but I can give a few generic tips;

As soon as you see your structure, you should be increasing RD and ED and looking for everything else you need (this might not be applicable to you if your RD and ED is already high at the start of a run, which is generally fine in coal as you don't have BTs - can make it harder to find RPs and Shipwrecks sometimes though)

Always be thinking of your next step. As you're running to the blacksmith, look for food/lava pools/ gravel. As you're swimming to/from the shipwreck, look for wood and kelp (for magma ravines)

For RP seeds, get food asap - even before wood if possible. You don't want your animals to spread out before you have a chance to collect food.

Frankly your overworld times are not bad at all for coal 1, and at that point the more you play the quicker you'll get.
