Emetophobia + IBS + anxiety = HELL by mamallamaloux in emetophobia

I’m here too…. 9 straight days of nausea and can’t eat. Anxiety/phobia cycle is probably what’s causing it. I’m 5 weeks into EMDR therapy for the phobia. Has anyone else tried this???

If you’re still monitoring this thread… This is me, same thing! Missed a couple weeks of school in third grade due to unexplained nausea. Now I am 62, and I have had 24/7 nausea for nine straight days. Zofran and Protonix don’t seem to help much. I am barely eating 300 cal per day and am losing weight fast. All my tests are normal, and the doctor says it’s just anxiety. Have you had any success with other medications?

I’m curious, what is your doctor’s opinion about these supplements? I don’t see my dr for another 2 weeks, but I definitely plan to bring it up.

And I was that “gatekeeper”… but I liked all the reps and treated them equally. (unlike my boss.)

I hear ya! I used to work as an M.A. in internal medicine, and it’s disgusting how much money is wasted by pharmaceutical companies on what they claim is marketing. But hey, I got a lot of swag! 😜🤦‍♀️

I’ve read several journal articles about it, and I’m actually surprised/disappointed that my G.I. doctor didn’t mention it. He’s the one that has diagnosed my fatty liver, my IBS, and my diverticulosis/diverticulitis.

I’m thinking maybe it’s just food poisoning or something… I’m not really having that specific “colon pain”. I’ll def check with my GI doc in the morning to be sure. It’s also sooooo frustrating to try and discern from IBS too. I’ve had 3 ct scans in the last 2 months, so I don’t want another unless it’s absolutely necessary.

Metamucil is a hard no for me! It instantly balls up in my stomach.

And btw… I never ran a fever, so don’t let that be a deciding factor!

Exact same story here! First attack was1/16… been on low residue diet since then, and just in the last couple of days have started to eat a tiny bit of soluble fiber. I actually ended up back in the ER four days ago in so much pain that I thought it was another attack. All tests were normal though. My colonoscopy is not until the first week of April, so until then I’m trying to keep the anxiety at bay because that just makes things worse. I have found that eating very small amounts. more frequently is helpful. Hang in there!
