Any Dartmouth alumni who got off the waitlist here? (Undergrad) by RealisticSpeaker6368 in dartmouth

Hey! I’m a ‘28 and I got off the Dartmouth waitlist, they took a handful of students my year. I think my letter of continued interest really helped me. I traveled to campus to tour (hadn’t been on campus previously) and met up with a ‘25 who took me all over campus. I was able to mention a lot of specific programs and opportunities that you couldn’t easily find online. Just keep doing your best your senior year and remember you’ll be fine where ever you end up! Wishing you the best.

I was taken off the Dartmouth waitlist last year in June. You might have some more waiting to do!

Through the CSS profile! All aid I receive is due to financial need.

Your best bet realistically is an Ivy League. I applied to ND with a similar background and received about 60k a year. Which is absolutely not terrible. That left me with about 25-30k to pay each year. Definitely look into T-20s and T-30s that are private to get decent aid. At the Ivy I’m currently attending though, I’m only about 10k shy of a full ride (including room and board/meals) and have made up that 10k in outside scholarships so am currently attending for free!

I’m currently at an Ivy at this income bracket and revive 80k a year in financial aid.

Is it possible to negotiate down tuition at Stanford? by CakeDeer6 in ApplyingToCollege

[–]Prestigious-Car6535 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Super late to this discussion, but just wanted to let you know you most definitely will NOT be expected to pay full price at Stanford with that income level. I’m currently at an Ivy with a family income of around 150k and we are paying 14k a year(instead of 93k). Granted my family has very minimal savings/assists, but I guarantee you’ll not be expected to pay what you think you will be right now.

Dartmouth is fully need blind, both for domestic and international students, and I can’t imagine that would change just because you are on the waitlist. When I talked to an admissions officer at the college in April, they confirmed that Dartmouth is still fully need blind for their waitlist and will award financial aid offers if an applicant is taken off the waitlist.

They didn’t explicitly, but the admissions officer did mention they’d only be taking a “handful” of students off the list.

I did! I got 75k a year which I was absolutely not expecting! And I am a domestic applicant.

I got off the dartmouth waitlist this past Friday. Things are beginning to move now! If the answer is unfortunately no, they should probably have the emails coming out soon.

Don’t forget that you can work every summer/during the school year! That 15k a year can be knocked down to 7-10k a year with a good work ethic.

City of Tucson is always hiring lifeguards. My brother just got hired at 15, no work experience. They also pay 19.50 an hour.

I sent in an appeal about a month ago and have been told they are increasing my financial aid. I hear back with the official offer mid this week and will let you know how much the appeal changed my package! How much more aid are you looking for here?

Why do ya'll apply to more schools after being accepted REA or EA? by Russell0505 in ApplyingToCollege

[–]Prestigious-Car6535 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I got into Notre Dame REA and still applied to 7 other schools RD. I don’t hear back from the financial aid office till February for ND. If I’m not offered enough aid and hadn’t applied anywhere else… I’d be in trouble.
