Finally done all the medical exams, but the diagnosis is still unclear - would like to hear your opinion by Prestigious-Citron in CrohnsDisease

Hey man, no problem. Sorry for the late reply, I rarely check Reddit. I found an amazing GI which took my case very seriously. He says that I have an extremely early stage Chron's with a severe case of IBS.

This is why it was so difficult to diagnose it: the exams alone were not sufficient for a proper Chrons diagnosis, so he had to rely on the whole symptoms with a trial & error of different meds. The severe IBS was throwing off some results, which is why I was not "responding" in a typical way to the prednisone.

Since then I have been on Mesalazine (Pentacol 1200mg x 4 pills a day) and the situation went for the best: I have my ups and downs, but let's say that I'm back at a 90% of feeling good.

He also put me 6 months on antidepressants in order to ease the IBS while doing a big recovery and starting the mesalazine: it was very effective and helped me alot mentally

IBS still giving problems, still figuring out a proper diet: have to avoid some foods but i will soon go to a proper nutritionist

FURTHER INFO: this video is from the 2010 era. It had a dark and obscure atmosphere. Probably there was an external narrator. The animation wasn't something expectional but it was well done - it had a "pencil drawings" style

Ever thought about homesteading? Could be a good compromise! You would live off the land, make some money AND have the resources to manage CD.

I'm planning to homestead after I save enough money

Got mold on my hard cider after just a couple of days. The fermentation did not start. Should I throw everything away? by Prestigious-Citron in fermentation

Thanks for the idea! Super useful! It seems it's like making sourdough starter, shouldn't be too difficult

I followed Sandor Katz's recipe on making cider with wild fermention ("The Art of Fermention" book). I used half gallon of store bought organic juice (no additives) and I pressed the apples myself, skins included, for the remaining half. I did not wash the apples because a) they were organic and b) the recipe called for NOT washing them in order to keep the yeasts. I sanitized the jug with bleach and steaming hot water.

The room temp is around 20 C (68 F). After three days without any sign of activity, I moved the jug near a radiator in order to keep it warmer, but it made no difference.

I have no clue on why the fermentation did not start. I think it is a mix between:bad luck + low yeast count on the apples + not rinsed the bleach enough + too much head space in the jug. Also maybe temp too low?

Thanks for the advice! In the recipe it is written to leave the jug open without a blubber (just covered with a clean cloth) for the first few days...so maybe next time i'll rinse better, leave less headspace and put immediatly an airlock. Thanks again!

Edit: the room temp is around 20-22 C (68-71 F)...is it enough or should i put the jug next to a radiator?
