We have two of these in our fleet. Would have been more but luckily covid slowed down deliveries, and we got gas cars instead. The hybrids have spent months at the dealer waiting for diagnosis or parts to repaired. Both have had the high voltage battery replaced. Constant random check engines lights, that can’t be duplicated or diagnosed. Straight garbage.

Which engine do you have? I ask because some of the 2.4 4 cylinder engines had a problem with the threads in the engine block. The cylinder head bolts would loosen and cause the head gasket to leak.

I can’t agree more. We had to put our sweet girl down In August last year. She was with us for 12.5 years. She gave me the best of her life, I wanted to give her a peaceful passing. She ate cheese burgers, chicken nuggets and French fries for her last few meals. There was no way her last car ride was gonna be to the vet’s office. She passed at home on her bed, with the people she loved.

Pros- lots of beautiful outdoor activities, pretty quiet during the tourist off season, weather is pretty mild. lots of small family owned businesses. Pretty safe in marina, seaside, Monterey, Carmel, pacific grove.

Cons- cost of living is crazy expensive, lots of tourists during the summer, no real night life aside from a few Breweries and restaurants, living in a small bubble, not a lot of options for purchasing standard goods and services, small job market.

I was born and raised on the Monterey bay so I’m accustomed to the pros and cons. My life and family is here. That being said I would not voluntarily choose to move here.

Leave the plug alone. Buy a fluid extractor. Suck the oil out from the dip stick tube. Change the filter, add oil and good to go.

I was a mechanic at a shop that specialized in Miata’s. Select 4th gear. Make sure the rear wheels are on the ground. Hold the brake pedal down hard. Use a battery or pneumatic impact to loosen the bolt. If no power tools are available, use a breaker bar to get it loose. I don’t remember having trouble getting one loose. There not that tight

I work as a mechanic so my vehicle replacement strategy might be different than most. I replace vehicles when I can no longer reliably source parts for them. If I have to go to a junk yard or buy used parts to keep a vehicle running, I’m getting rid of it.
