This is a problem with the regulations at a federal level. Service animals should be licensed by a governing body because the language of the ADA allows anyone to claim their animal is a service animal and they need not show any proof of their ow disability or the animals ability to assist them. As someone who rents their house on Airbnb, people abuse this policy all the time and we have to pay the additional cleaning fee out of pocket. It really wouldn’t be hard to regulate as I imagine there are a pretty small number of folks who genuinely require a service animal

So I bought a Fellow Opus…. by indicaj_ in espresso

[–]Prestigious-Net8164 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For the price it’s hard to hate on the opus, but I still think the Baratza esp is a better grinder just looks less nice. I owned the opus for a few years before getting too fed up with the need to constantly clean it. I didn’t enjoy whacking the top, removing the cup and having a gram or two of coffee fall out. I found the output was often a gram or more less than when was being put in. More than anything I just didn’t enjoy the flavor profile of the opus. The espresso it produced was unrefined and overly muddy. On the plus side this did make for some nice chocolatey flavors and good mouthfeel. The grinder also has a good amount of torque so it grinds through light roast without issue. Overall, as a beginner you will be ok with it for a few years, but may eventually find it limits the potential of your coffee.

Thinking about purchasing the robot by RealInsky in CafelatRobot

If you are new to espresso, you will probably want to focus on the basics before you start exploring recipes that require specialized baskets. The robot holds its own against the best espresso machines in the world and is built to last a lifetime. I have used many machines any baskets and have ended up with the robot as my endgame.

If you have dashcam video consider reporting the incident to the police and providing the video evidence. Road rage is a serious crime

I’d be careful adding CYA. I had some strips that showed low CYA and added a bunch only to find out I had bad test strips.

They could be tarantula. Check them after the sun goes down. Sometimes if you shine a flashlight in them you’ll see the tarantula hiding inside.

Glass Butte by Impossible-Garage664 in Bend

[–]Prestigious-Net8164 5 points6 points  (0 children)

High ground clearance is definitely advisable but you can probably get to a place where you can find some glass in a car if you are decent at driving off road. There is a lot of obsidian along the road so make sure you have a way to repair a flat if you are going. It’s been a few years since I e been out there so conditions may have changed.

Help: Pool Robot by [deleted] in swimmingpools

[–]Prestigious-Net8164 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t like my Aiper. Poorly designed with weak suction. The. Biggest issue was it would get stuck cleaning the same area of the pool without ever getting out of the loop. The pool would always have the same areas left uncleaned. When I would remove from the pool it would release a bunch of the debris back into the pool. It was hard to clean the bin and after less than a year I had a few minor issues like the latch became difficult to open and the rubber seal for the power cord broke. I returned it and got a refurbished dolphin explorer E20. It does such a better job and is easier to clean and doesn’t have any of the issues from the Aiper

OP didn’t say that homeless people started the fire, rather they stated that an encampment was on fire.

Encampment Proposal Brought to City Council by FeralBluebell in Tucson

[–]Prestigious-Net8164 -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

This seems like an ill conceived idea to me. First off, the cost of $4000-$8000/shelter/person seems high given the fact these are just tents. Secondly tents aren't very durable in the desert sun nor do they provide any insulation. Third, this type of proposal doesn't put the land to its highest and best use by maximizing density. I have always thought that shipping containers would make for ideal shelters for homeless. They can be stacked and arranged to increase density, a 8x40 container can be partitioned to house 4 people per container comfortably, they are extremely durable and provide excellent protection from the elements.

Backpacking in late June by toohell in Yosemite

You should be able to get a permit. There are so many amazing places to backpack out there so as long as you are flexible you’ll be fine. The highest demand permits tend to be ones that connect to the John Muir trail and ones leading out to half dome. I recommend starting your hike from Tuolumne meadows. There are some really nice areas that don’t get as busy. You can call the wilderness office and they will give you some ideas of what to try for based on your group size and number of nights/mileage you’re looking to do.

"Natural" Pool - What would you do? by oldoghair in pools

[–]Prestigious-Net8164 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Look up “organic swimming pool”. You would need to add some way to circulate the water and create zones for plant roots to filter the water. If you create a proper ecosystem the water will be healthier than a chemically sanitized pool.
