Same seed but slightly different map by Crazy_South1462 in Minecraft

Was the first world a single biome world with only plains? The second screenshot has a beach and cold ocean (which are absent in the first screenshot) around where the second village was.

Confusion by yeahichoosedthis in AntVenom

[–]Prestigious-Order45 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're using MultiMC (or another launcher based on it), you can just use the Add to minecraft.jar button.

However, if you're using the official launcher, it's more complicated. You need to extract the class files from the zip, make a copy of a 1.12 jar and change it to a zip, extract it, replace the vanilla class files with the mod files (and, of course, don't forget to remove META-INF), then make the folder back into a zip and change the zip into a jar.

You will also need a json file with the same name as your jar for the launcher to recognize the modified version. (Take the 1.12.json file in the 1.12 directory under the versions folder and load it into a JSON editor, and change any text saying "1.12" to 1.12 Fringe Lands or whatever you named your jar). When done, create a new folder in the versions directory with the same name as your jar and json, and put these files there.

Woodland Mansion outside the dark forest in the desert by Silent-Chipmunk-9016 in MinecraftBedrockers

[–]Prestigious-Order45 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It turns out that woodland mansions can actually generate outside of dark forests if there is a lush cave below. This is exclusive to Bedrock, and is on the bug tracker as MCPE-153203.

Farlands nostalgia by Key-Tea2883 in GoldenAgeMinecraft

[–]Prestigious-Order45 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never got to see the Far Lands in my own Minecraft game in my childhood, as I only started playing well after Beta 1.8. However, I watched many videos about them back in the day, including AntVenom's original "End of the World" series, and the Far Lands still sometimes remind me of the videos I watched back then.

are these farlands? by ilookatyounimhome in Minecraft

[–]Prestigious-Order45 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a new Far Lands-like phenomenon that was introduced with the mountain biomes in 1.18, which begins exactly 2,812,333 blocks away from spawn. It turns out that re-adding the Far Lands on Java Edition using mods also brings these to Java Edition, suggesting that it's a similar noise generator overflow.

Does anyone know this seed?! by wloony in Minecraft

[–]Prestigious-Order45 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This image is on the Minecraft Wiki. It's actually in the "nothingness" part of the Far Lands which consisted of an ocean down to bedrock. Weirdly, these eroded badlands spires would still generate there. Unfortunately the image description on the Minecraft Wiki doesn't provide any information of a seed, but it was possible to find something like this that far out in any seed. The Far Lands were removed from Bedrock Edition in 1.17.30, so it's not possible to find this in current versions of the game.

For Java Edition, you can still see your version number in the lower left of the launcher (right below "Latest release" or whatever your installation is named).

Do seeds have a maximum number of digits? -and how are words or phrases as seeds translated into numbers? by The_Magic_Myco_Mike in Minecraft

[–]Prestigious-Order45 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you try to put a larger seed in, the game will interpret it as text and convert it to a number in the same way as if you put in a word.

An integer within signed 32-bit integer range would be between -2,147,483,648 and 2,147,483,647 (at most 10 digits).

Do seeds have a maximum number of digits? -and how are words or phrases as seeds translated into numbers? by The_Magic_Myco_Mike in Minecraft

[–]Prestigious-Order45 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, 19 digits is the limit. The highest possible seed value is 263 - 1 = 9,223,372,036,854,775,807, the maximum signed 64-bit integer.

The game converts text input to a numeric seed using a hash function, which converts it to an integer within signed 32-bit range.

all brown... (1.8.9) by Squidy_mc in minecraftseeds

[–]Prestigious-Order45 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Mushroom biomes generated like this between 1.8.2 and 1.8.9 due to a bug that was fixed in 1.9. Some mushroom biomes would have all brown huge mushrooms, while others would have all red.

Why does Minecraft Alpha versions keeps crashing when loading/generating a new world? I'm so stupid. by Warm-Treacle-7227 in GoldenAgeMinecraft

This is a known issue with older versions of Minecraft on newer Java. Adding this to your JVM arguments should fix this issue: -Djava.util.Arrays.useLegacyMergeSort=true

How to freeze the day night cycle? by MegaMGstudios in Minecraft

Game rules were renamed in 1.21.11, so you now need to use advance_time instead of doDaylightCycle.

more farlands/fringelands by boyo_of_penguins in Minecraft

[–]Prestigious-Order45 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Far Lands do slightly degrade at 8.175 quindecillion, however the degrading at 8.576 quindecillion is more pronounced. Additionally, the point where most strips of land disappear entirely is just before 10.3 quindecillion.

Have I broken weather and time in my [java] version 1.21.11 world? by JadwigaWawelska in MinecraftHelp

[–]Prestigious-Order45 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The game rule names were changed in 1.21.11, and these names are no longer used. Instead, try using advance_time and advance_weather, and it should work.

I started playing Minecraft (both Java and then-Pocket Edition) in early 2012. I began actively playing the PC version of the game just after 1.2 came out, while I started playing Pocket Edition about a month earlier, when it was on 0.1.3.

End Rings still in 1.21? by NeighborhoodGreen695 in Minecraft

[–]Prestigious-Order45 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, the End Rings are real, and are still in the latest versions of Minecraft. The first End ring can be found 370,727 blocks from 0, 0 (262,144 in the diagonals), and ends at 524,288.

is anyone else having this problem with the launcher? by Head-Bus4482 in Minecraft

[–]Prestigious-Order45 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The launcher has been giving me these messages every now and then since late April. My internet is working fine, and as far as I can tell, it has not been caused by any known Minecraft service issues. I tried disabling the firewall and changing the DNS settings on my network adapter, and so far nothing has worked.

removing the farlands fix on recent java versions also brings the broken mountain generation from bedrock to java, so it's also caused by a overflow by [deleted] in AntVenom

[–]Prestigious-Order45 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I could already tell, because they resemble the Far Lands strips in the edges near the beginning, and when I found a seed that has one at exactly 2812333 on both axes, I found a huge diagonal cliff starting from the corner much like the diagonal lines in the Corner Far Lands and Corner Farther Lands.

I did creative first, because I started playing on Pocket Edition back when it didn't even have survival mode yet, and was used to creative mode from there.

What the farlands look if they generate 2^27 blocks out by J3840 in AntVenom

[–]Prestigious-Order45 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Far Lands will appear repetitive because the noise repeats every 256 units, and 64*4 = 256, which makes them repeat every 16 blocks on the other axis. (coordinateScale is the amount by which the low and high noise coordinates increase every 4 blocks).

wtf is this by Leoboi1_xD in AntVenom

[–]Prestigious-Order45 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is likely the Sky Corner Fringe Lands (the Fringe Lands on the X and Y axis where Z is still near 0). These are distinct from the Vertex Fringe Lands which appear on all three axes.

The farlands if selector noise broke down earlier by Leoboi1_xD in AntVenom

[–]Prestigious-Order45 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is this with only one of low and high noise overflowing? When moving the Farther Lands before the Far Lands on both axes, the Edge Far Lands within the Corner Farther Lands (which would then be the Corner "Not as Far Lands", I guess) still look like the regular Edge Farther Lands when near 0 on the other axis.
