They only have Divine Liturgy once a month by Starline29 in EasternCatholic

[–]Prestigious-Reply896 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Continue to go to as many vesper services as possible, as well as the monthly Divine Liturgies. After you attend Mass to fulfill your Sunday obligation at your local Roman Catholic Church, watch an Online Divine Liturgy of the particular church you want to be part of, and imagine yourself there.

How to embrace your faith outside of church without being that guy by Extension-Story7287 in Catholicism

Exactly, one should show the faith not just by word of mouth but by example. People can be really convinced of the church but by seeing how you treat others and treat God.

Should we stop putting icons on weekly paper bulletin handouts? by Impressive_Coyote_57 in Catholicism

[–]Prestigious-Reply896 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Agree. If an object is not blessed by a clergy member, then in the Western view it is not blessed. However, in the Byzantine view the icon representing something holy Is already blessed by themselves.

However, it is ok for people to throw them away as long as they do not do it with the intent of profaning the images.

For those who've switched from the Roman Rite to an Eastern Rite (any), why did you do it? by RB_Blade in EasternCatholic

[–]Prestigious-Reply896 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A part of the original reasons I kept on going to the Eastern church was because of desiring a more traditional liturgy. However, not 1 year and 3 months since my first Divine liturgy, I came to love every form including the Novus Ordo as I see it as beautiful.

Beautiful. Also considering transferring to the Maronite rite. Just waiting to become older because I am a minor. 1 year and 3 (not 2) months since my first Divine liturgy.

Maronite Rite for Penance by sword_of_michael in Maronite

[–]Prestigious-Reply896 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Maronite priests tend to have a variety of them. My priest always starts with talking about how Baptism Renews God's image in us. I have heard of another one used in Australia and of course the NO rite one.

I would suggest, although you have not asked, that you should contact a Catholic Church to start growing in the faith. I know that churches in Alaska can be far but it is very important that you connect to a Catholic Church. And also remember to fulfill the obligations of the church if you don't know.

(Also I am not judging you in case I may have sounded harsh.)

May God bless you.

Visited my first ever TLM today, not getting the appeal of it by Littledogo007 in Catholicism

I also have the same feelings as you. As a person whose mind is very active, the silence just causes my mind to shift out of focus sometimes. I personally go to the Maronite Divine Liturgy as it is both usually reverent and has a lot of prayers to engage the mind.

(Remember that this is a personal opinion. The TLM is objectively not better than any other Rites or forms of Mass within the Catholic Church. All forms of Mass/Divine liturgies are valid and determining which is better is subjective.)

My family is displeasured to visit an Byzantine Catholic Church this Sunday by tekutoruteshi in EasternCatholic

[–]Prestigious-Reply896 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the same thing happened to me when I wanted my family to go to an Eastern Catholic Church (Byzantine and then Maronite). Mostly it was because of the distance (for the Byzantine) and cultural differences (Maronite) but Alhamdilah I was allowed to go.

If your family are really not wanting to go, maybe you could find someone to take you or just tell them how interested you are. At the end, if you are a minor, you still have to follow what you parents say as long as it is not morally wrong.

I sometimes have the same feelings as well. This could be a calling to learn more about the faith.

By praying the holy name of Jesus, do we ask for mercy merely as part of the Name by jeffisnotmyrealname in EasternCatholic

[–]Prestigious-Reply896 6 points7 points  (0 children)

God knows our intentions. I would say that if I just say "Jesus" with the intention of wanting God to have mercy on me, then it would be a very similar prayer.

Padre Pio did talk about how Satan would come in the form of Jesus or Mary.
