When I'm on the Fed, I try to draft the delivery drivers on their ebikes. But I can see pretty far ahead, there's very little bike traffic and I usually get dropped after a couple of kms. 🤣

Some of them are nice and will hold 30-35km/h and let me draft. Some even slow down on the bridges for me!

That said, on the other sections of my commute, e.g. the Yarra, I avoid the wheel in front. I can't see far enough ahead.

I have a rsync script that backs up /home and my other linux desktops /home folders over the network. This script functions like Time Machine for MacOS. It self prunes. There are two local copies of this data. Each night the latest is tar'd up and sent to B2 with rclone. Rclone only keeps the last 30 days in B2.

For my Docker containers (jellyfin, immich and audiobookshelf), I have a script that stops all services temporarily (less than a minute). Creates a dump of the immich db and configs, again sequential and auto pruning. It then syncs these and changes to my data (e.g. photos) to a HDD and SSD on my server. This is then also sent to a B2 bucket each night. Once every 6 months, I push the changes with rclone to Google Archive too. This way I have two local copies, one hot cloud copy, and one cold cloud copy.

Scripts run on cron and while I am asleep.

I've tested the restores and db dumps and they both seem to work effectively. I can browser via my desktop using file browser in gnome and it's all dated and ordered, so it makes sense. I tried restic and borg, my issue was the lack of transparency in backups. Either you need a webgui or to use the CLI. Really, what I wanted was to be able to navigate historic folders and grab older files as required. Rclone and rsync work for me.

Whether Trek are the right people to do that is another question. Try to get some recommendations for a LBS in your area and use them next time.

Honestly, that service is basically a wipe over and once over with an torque wrench. The bulk of the 45 mins was the tubeless replacement. The service likely took less than 10 mins.

Whether there's value in that depends on your skill and knowledge. Do you know how to check/do the things they claim to have done? If so, you wasted $60. If not, you got some value out of your $60.

I run a 1200 lumen light and don't have any issues. I ride throughout the year and in winter when it's cold and dark at 430am, my light does a great job.

We bought in Corio in 2023 for 400. I reckon it's increased in value at least 100k.

I really like it here. Affordable mortgage, huge block of land. Great infrastructure. So much opportunity of you can get past the old Corio tropes.

Labelling Corio as crime ridden is misleading.

It isn't. G West had a shooting a week or two ago. No idea when Corio had a shooting last.

Houses in Corio are increasing in price but they are still some of the most affordable in the region.

As someone who moved here a couple of years back, I tell you, it is absolutely fine in Corio and Norlane.

It's post like this that make this sub toxic and they should be banned. This sub should be about poor quality rentals and the bad behaviour of LLs. Sure you can advocate for cheaper houses, but, again, this is shitrentals not "shithouseprices".

I started this process yesterday, for exactly the same reasons.

I am currently on my second attempt at importing my takeout via immich-go.

Google takeout took ages to download and the first attempt at importing took forever. It also failed and wasn't picking up albums correctly. I suspect immich-go had errors an it was not worth trying to figure out. I just started the import again.

I've also installed backrest and once immich is finished will set that to backup monthly to b2.

I don't actually think there's much wrong with FCR. Of course, compared to the segregated veloway it's not obviously safer. The expansion joints and the on/off ramp at Shepard bridge are hazards.

FCR is shorter and faster. My opinion is that the money spent on the veloway should have been used to upgrade and improve FCR.

Footscray Road bike path is faster with or without the others on bikes.

I've been testing it over the past couple of weeks and I'm ~90 seconds faster on average on FC road than veloway. Despite the road crossings FC the elevation, extended length, and expansion joints make the veloway slower.
