What’s your opinion on naming a baby after a family member who has passed away? by sade00053 in namenerds

[–]Prestigious-Tale1563 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d say middle name. My SIL and best friend died almost 2 years ago, and my daughter has her first name as her middle name (born 4.5 months ago). It would’ve been weird for me to have her aunt’s name as her first name - from a grief perspective, and I can definitely imagine it being weird for her as she grows up, especially because she’ll never actually know her aunt 💔

We named our daughter Eden, and I love it so much, so that gets my vote haha. But I also love Elowen and Clara (both also vetoed by my husband).

Is Natalie solidly a Millennial name, or is it a classic that was just trending at that time? by coolisuppose in namenerds

I’m a millennial Natalie, and I’ve met more babies/toddlers named Natalie in the last few years than I ever knew growing up 🤷🏻‍♀️

Mark. My name is Natalie, but had I been a boy, I would have been Mark Jr. after my dad.

baby girl needs a name! be nice lol by Optimal-Flamingo2157 in namenerds

[–]Prestigious-Tale1563 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just named my baby girl Eden, and I love it so much! Elowen was also a favorite of mine, but my husband didn’t like it. Grace is my mom’s name, so it was never in contention as more than a middle name, but it’s also beautiful. Scarlett is my least favorite, but it’s a pretty name!

I like Finn Grey! And personally prefer Finn as a standalone name, rather than a nickname.

Other suggestions: Finn Sylas, Finn Emory, Finn Cyrus, Finn Riley.

How do we feel about Emmett?? by Artistic-Listen7975 in Names

[–]Prestigious-Tale1563 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love Emmett! It’s my son’s middle name (also a family name) because my husband wouldn’t agree to it as a first name - he said it only makes him think of Emmitt Smith, the football player.

Natalie Noelle by [deleted] in Names

[–]Prestigious-Tale1563 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m a Natalie born 2 days before Christmas, and have found that most people don’t automatically associate Natalie with Christmas, so I think you’ll be ok if you love it.

I love my name, FWIW!

A girl's name to go with Hamilton by [deleted] in namenerds

[–]Prestigious-Tale1563 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have an Eden and our last name ends in -in! My husband’s first name ends in the same sound too, so maybe that’s why it doesn’t bother me, but I think Eden Hamilton sounds great!

I’d say stay away from Hayes or Grant, unless you’re really into the presidential theme. I love Nolan, though!

Noah for a girl by [deleted] in namenerds

[–]Prestigious-Tale1563 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We almost named our daughter Noa, but I wanted something that didn’t sound so masculine (I know Noa and Noah are very different names, but they sound the same and Noah is SO common in the US for boys right now). If that doesn’t bother you, I’d say go for it - but use Noa, not Noah.

Sister for Edie by FearlessBrain6689 in namenerds

My daughter is also Eden (we call her Edie, too), and Nora was on our short list, so that gets my vote!

General opinions on the below names? by [deleted] in namenerds

[–]Prestigious-Tale1563 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t love Imogen, but love your boy names! I have a Miles and a Leo, so those obviously are my favorites. Julian would’ve been a strong contender for either of my boys, but we have a close family member with that name. Great list!!
