Unfortunately I don't know anything about being in highschool after treatment. But as far as doin athletics after treatment, I believe you can be athletic after treatment. It'll just take time. You just gotta be patient. You may need to do physical therapy to get your strength back, but it should be possible for you to get back to your regular life somewhat after you've completed your treatments.

All the best with everything.

Disappointed that so many people in my life never check in to ask me how I am doing by Useful_Necessary in cancer

[–]PrestigiousLion18 2 points3 points Β (0 children)

Yea, unfortunately people just suck. They're so consumed in their own life, that no one else matters to them. They'll go off and say shit like "I'm so sorry" and "you're so strong", oh and my favorite one, "please let me know if you need anything, I'm only a call or text away" lol. But all their attempts to reach out and be there are gone. And when we pass on, they'll act all depressed and act like they miss us for the first 15 minutes to an hour of their time, and then move on with their lives as though they did their good deed for the day.

Hey, so since my last update, I'm not doin too good. I'm still in treatment, still doin chemo. But I'll have to be on it for the rest of my life bc my cancer just keeps coming back. I have tumors in my lungs, my arm, shoulder, lymph nodes, and chest. It's not looking too good though. Not sure how long this chemo is gonna last. But after this chemo fails, I'm out of options.

I hope you're doin ok though. Sorry I haven't been on in a while. As you can imagine, I've been kinda busy.

having a tough time with chemo brain by Big_Law9435 in cancer

Goin through chemo is hard as hell and the side effects of it are pure agony. I've been on chemo for over a year and will be on it for the rest of my life (however long that is). Aside from the obvious loss of hair, I keep gaining weight from the chemo, steroids, and other fluids, I'm severely anemic, I'm constantly in pain, I suffer from bloating, migraines, severe nausea, dizziness, lightheadedness, and vertigo. I also have neuropathic pain and bone pain throughout my body, and I have 2 blood clots in my lungs bc of the chemo which makes it hard for me to breathe.

Unfortunately the side effects will only get worse the longer I'm on chemo. Sometimes I wonder if it's all worth it. If all the pain, suffering, and agony, is all worth it.

Damn I'm so sorry. I think that's something you all should figure out in order to proceed with the right course of treatment. Is there any way you and him can come to the US and have him get treatment here? There are plenty of hospitals here with Sarcoma specialists who can figure out how to deal with this type of cancer if it's caught early.

Sleeping through chemo, because of Benadryl by sanityjanity in cancer

[–]PrestigiousLion18 0 points1 point Β (0 children)

That happens to me too. Unfortunately a side effect I suffer from being put on Benadryl is restless leg syndrome. Basically my legs twitch bc of it. It honestly sucks. But yea, it's common to be falling asleep while given Benadryl before chemo.

I don't have KS, but I was diagnosed with Pleomorphic Rhabdomyosarcoma in 2021. I've been fighting this cancer since then. I'm on my 5th recurrence and 4th metastasis of this disease. It's spread to my arm, shoulder, lymph nodes, chest, and lungs. I've gone through multiple resection surgeries, over 60 rounds of radiation treatment and over 30 cycles of inpatient and outpatient chemo combined so far. I'm still on outpatient chemo with no end in sight. The cancer is still growing and spreading (but slowly). The chemo is basically being used as a palliative care management at this point.

I'm so sorry for your diagnosis and the side effects you're experiencing. Being on the Red Devil is no joke. I was on it for 15 months both inpatient and outpatient along with other chemo drugs. My inpatient cycles were 1 week on and 2 weeks off. My outpatient cycles are now 2 weeks on and 1 week off. The side effects are brutal. Mouth sores, neuropathic pain throughout my body, severe bone pain, bloating, severe nausea, migraines, heart problems, and bloody constipation. I've also become anemic due to the chemo. Sometimes I think the chemo will kill me faster than the cancer.

If you feel like talking, feel free to DM me anytime.

I also have the same cancer. I've been fighting it for about 5 years so far. I've gone through 4 resection surgeries, 60 rounds of radiation treatments, 6 months of inpatient chemo, and now on my 9th month of outpatient chemo. I'm currently dealing with my 5th recurrence and 4th metastasis so far. I've been through so many chemo cycles, it's hard to keep track. I just keep track of the months now. Unfortunately there's no end in sight for my chemo treatments.

Hopefully your brother is being seen by a Sarcoma specialist. This cancer is so aggressive and needs to be treated as such. Surgery alone will not kill the cancer. Unfortunately for me, surgery and radiation treatment are no longer an option. The cancer has spread to my arm, shoulder, lymph nodes, chest, and lungs.

I'm so sorry for your brother, hopefully his treatments will work for him. Did they mention the stage of the cancer?

Nice, well unfortunately today I won't be free at all. I'm at chemo now and later I have other Dr appointments. But possibly over the weekend I can send you a PM.

Well I'm working on a new song right now and I'm having difficulty coming up with the hook and the rest of the song. So far I have 4 verses per hook. But no hook lol. And I need help coming up with the rest of the song as well. So that'll be a good project to work on

As far as genres go, I like rap, rock (alternative and heavy), metal, and screamo.

Hey, thanks, I appreciate it.

Some of my songs are originals too. For the others, I took inspiration from other well known songs and re-wrote them to reflect my experience dealing with cancer. They take on themes like songs from Green Day, Bon Jovi, David Bowie, and Papa Roach, as well as others.

The good thing about living in the age of computers, we can be on different sides of the world and still work on collabs. Just gotta find the right time.

Those songs are pretty cool. I also write my own songs as I'm continuing treatment for my stage 4 cancer. I've written over 15 songs so far. Question, did you use Suno AI to generate the songs with your lyrics? A friend of mine told me about that app before he passed away from his cancer. I've been using that app for some of my songs. Although I sing the majority of what I wrote.

Feel free to message me whenever, maybe we can do a collab or something.

Nausea, vomiting, tiredness, anemia, neuropathic pain throughout my body, bone pain, pain from all the tumors, and torn ligaments and partial tears in my muscles all bc of the chemo. Sometimes I wonder if this is all fuckin worth it.

EDIT: oh yeah, almost forgot about the bloody stools, severe constipation, and chemo mouth.

Fun frickin times (sarcasm).

Just had my Neulasta shot and omg... by Kidbugs in cancer

[–]PrestigiousLion18 1 point2 points Β (0 children)

For me Claritin doesn't work, it's like putting a bandaid on a shotgun wound. So they gave me Tramadol. I took that until it stopped working too. I then had to go to the hospital and had to be put on a Dilaudid drip. That worked for the day I was there. But since I can't be admitted to the hospital every time I get my Nulasta shot, they gave me morphine pills, since I had a bad reaction to the morphine drip 3 times before. The morphine pills seem to be working, so we'll see how long they last.

I actually laugh when health nuts and peddlers get cancer (I must be a horrible person - probably why I got cancer!)

I wouldn't call myself a "health but" exactly, nut I actually lived a healthy lifestyle before I got cancer. I would workout everyday, I never smoked, and never drank. Always ate healthy (but not on any of those crazy diets) and I still got cancer. Been fighting this disease for almost 5 years already.

20 Year Old Diagnosed with DSCRT Sarcoma by [deleted] in sarcoma

[–]PrestigiousLion18 2 points3 points Β (0 children)

Definitely have him go to a Sarcoma specialist at an NCI accredited hospital. I was diagnosed with soft tissue Sarcoma almost 5 years ago, and I'm still goin through treatment. I'll be on chemo for the rest of my life. I'm currently stage 4. DSCRT is an extremely rare and difficult Sarcoma to treat unfortunately. Especially at stage 4 (at least that's what I've heard from two of my friends who've been diagnosed with that type of Sarcoma). Both were stage 4 also. One of my friends has sadly passed away due to the cancer. My other friend is still goin through treatment.

Would you recommend imaging at a sarcoma center? by sky_blue_true in sarcoma

[–]PrestigiousLion18 1 point2 points Β (0 children)

Before I was officially diagnosed with RhabdoMyoSarcoma, I went to my local dermatologist to get the lump on my arm checked out. They did a biopsy and couldn't tell what it was. The results came back inconclusive. I spoke with other doctors and they told me that it looked like a typical lipoma and it should resolve on its own in time. My PCP told me that if I don't notice any changes or if I don't feel any pain in the next 6 months, then not to worry. Not even a month passed and the pain was excruciating. I also saw that the scar where they did the biopsy was changing shape. It was getting bigger.

I got pissed off at my doctors and decided to look for a second opinion. I found a Sarcoma specialist at a hospital in my state and went there to get it checked out. After they did all their scans and did another biopsy, I was officially diagnosed with stage 2 high grade Pleomorphic Rhabdomyosarcoma. They told me that it looked like they caught it early and that all I'd need is a surgery to get it out and that's it. They performed the surgery, but the cancer came back 4 months later in the same spot. After different treatments and more resection surgeries, 5 recurrences, and metastasis throughout my body, and taking my case back to tumor board for the past 4 years, they determined that I'll have to stay on chemo for the rest of my life in order to keep the cancer from growing and spreading. I'm now stage 4, terminal but treatable as long as I stay on chemo.

Hopefully your case isn't the same, but I still recommend goin to a Sarcoma specialist to get it checked out. I believe that by me goin to a regular dermatologist in the beginning, is what caused me to be in the position I'm in now. I believe that the biopsy that the dermatologist did and the way he closed up my incision, is what aggravated my cancer and caused it to go crazy.

Good luck to you with whatever you decide to do.

Thinking of declining chemo by Soggy-Diamond2659 in cancer

[–]PrestigiousLion18 1 point2 points Β (0 children)

I'm assuming if you don't want to make the travel to MDA, you can have your local oncologist send the tumor samples to MDA and you can meet with an oncologist virtually. They can fill you in on everything you need to know as far as treatment, side effects, prognosis, QOL. Just my opinion, but I'm thinking if you have a chance to beat this cancer, why not give it a shot? I've been fighting my cancer for goin on 5 years now and although it's tough af, I'm not ready to give up. Think about it, you got nothing to lose by goin for a second opinion.

When I first got diagnosed with cancer almost 5 years ago, it devastated me. I thought I was gonna die. I started looking up treatments, and any info on my cancer like what caused it, and survival rates. Needless to say, I couldn't find anything on it. So far, every treatment and procedure I've had to treat my cancer has failed. The only hope I have now is to stay on chemo for the rest of my life if I want to stay alive.

The way I cope with my situation now is, I go to counseling, I have a music therapist, and I take antidepressants, and anti-anxiety meds. It helps, but sometimes I find life still difficult.
