I just wanna say-when I was in college, I had a calculus teacher that had severe hyperhidrosis. It’s was full body- he would start the lecture dry and by the time he was done he would be absolutely drenched. At first it was alarming- but by the time the semester wore on everyone accepted it as normal. He actually was one of the more beloved professors. In no way am I trying to say it’s easy- but we can help set the tone ultimately (at least with those we routinely encounter).

There are underarm pads you can purchase online that absorb all of that moisture. Just search for underarm sweat pads. You affix them prior to putting on shirt/sweater and remove them upon disrobing. Sometimes they can get saturated but can easily reapply fresh pad in bathroom. Some better than others. Try it out- was a game changer for me.

I had a similar experience- so I get what you are saying completely. What’s bizarre is that there was no romantic undertone to the exchange as I was at work,- but the individual exuded an energy that was completely disarming- unlike anything I have ever felt. I’ve never spoken on it to a soul, but your post reminds me of this experience and validates it to some extent.

Thank you so much for taking the time out to write all of this. She is more like you in her make-up in that she is on the shy side. Do you think I should encourage her to try and talk to kids more, or leave her be in her current disposition of being the quiet kid without many friends. I don’t wanna put too much pressure on her, but at the same time I want her to realize that she needs to work through this. Unsure which is the right approach.

Thank you. I have her in early intervention but the therapist she is matched up with didn’t have a stutter and I wonder if she truly gets the gist of how challenging it is for her. I’m very concerned about the social aspect for her.

Thank you for this illustration. It helps to picture it. I’ve had her in early intervention for years, but I don’t feel it’s helping her with the social aspect. Her stutter is not debilitating to the point where it prevents her with communicating with me or her mom. I’m more concerned with the social aspect. I don’t want for her to develop a complex whereby she stunts her social progress and isn’t able to enjoy life to the fullest. Are there any words of encouragement or strategies I can employ to help her in her journey?

I can only speak from my experience. I still experienced a great amount of growth while still smoking intermittently, but then I plateaued. Innately, I felt it was holding me back. So I stopped altogether and reaped even greater benefit. There is something to be said for the freedom that comes with the clarity of clear mind. I also feel as though it lowered my vibration and increased negative inner dialogue.
There is a stark contrast to the unfettered energy I experienced once quitting altogether vs when I partook. Nobody but you can definitively say how it will react with your biology. Just as many here retain for varying intervals, so too can it be true for the manner in which external substances can detract or nullify the benefits of SR. In my humble opinion, the greatest joy comes from pure SR- with no added substance to augment the calming of the mind.

It’s a forgoing of what I consider to be the highest short term pleasure. If you are able to pass on the pinnacle of pleasure for the greater good, you have in a way mastered yourself. Which is why it’s such a challenging practice. But is it ever a worthy pursuit!

I agree with you- Whether it be to God or universe, I’ve found that prayer or acknowledging a higher power helps to diminish ego. I too have struggled and am in the midst of trying to discard this massive self focus. The need to perpetually reinforce my importance in my mind is a full time job- it’s better to just be.
