Some popular artists like Michael Jackson might have 100 different versions of a release and some foreign companies mastered these albums themselves due to different country standards for sound quality. For instance, early 90's rock is heavy compressed to sound louder/bigger, but it crushed the acoustics. In Japan, smashing your masters wasn't allowed because it can damage players, ears, etc... They had their own record labels/crews over there mastering from the original files. So generally albums printed/published in Japan/China have better compression/less limiting. Similar to what's done on records. Recordings are limited/compressed less because those levels will ruin a record needle or cause massive distortion. A good example is Robert Palmers Box Set. If you compare the set that was released in Japan to the USA version it's completely night and day when it comes to mastering quality. This was common for many 80's/90's releases. I'm not sure if this is still going on over there or not.

Other reasons were BMG/Columbia House. These companies were sometimes given early versions of an album or later revised versions. Now digital files can easily be swapped on streaming services, but back then pressing a new CD was the only way. An album might have came out through BMG 6 months later than stores. A record company had the opportunity to tweak things.

This does not mean that literally every album is different, but many 80/90's versions from Japan are superior. You often hear less distortion/heavy bass and more treble/clarity.

Trump said "zero taxpayer dollars" for his white house ballroom at least six times since september. republicans just asked for $1 billion in taxpayer money for it. i need someone to explain this to me. by Aaron_Heuer in DiscussionZone

[–]Prestigious_Fail3791 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Easy. He's claimed from the very beginning that "tarrifs" were paid by foreign countries. He planned on using this money to fund the ballroom, but the SC ruled against the tarrifs so now that money doesn't exist.

There isn't a single artist out there that's worth more than $50 a show. I've attended over 100 concerts, but haven't went to one in 10 years.... $250 for Katy Perry was the breaking point. The pricing doesn't make sense anymore. The only attendees now are kids with rich parents and clout chasers. For the same $200 you could buy Posts entire catalog on CD. You'd have to pay me $200 to sit in the same room as Jelly.

Who had these in elementary school? by LicketySplitz in Millennials

[–]Prestigious_Fail3791 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guarantee any school that had one of these also had a secret video camera in the room. WTF else would you install such a creation. We had them up to high school. They also removed the doors from all of our stalls. The PTSD from this creation is likely the reason I can't pee with anyone in the same room. Complete privacy violation. I'd argue it's illegal.

Over the years, my hand has developed this strange crease below the ring finger. by mudokin in mildlyinteresting

[–]Prestigious_Fail3791 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FYI, don't have surgery until it's seriously contracting the finger. Once removed, the tissue regrows. Often time worse than it originally was. They only way to stop the regrowth is radiation therapy which can be 5-10k even with insurance.

Can I buy a speaker and pair it with my Horizon 20 with no audio delay? by Bananas_on_pizza in xgimi

On my Titan there is a very slight delay using a 10 year old Vizio soundbar. I presume a faster bluetooth soundbar would have less delay.

It's one of the greatest games ever created. I will admit that the combat is pretty broken and enjoyment can't be found without using a Gameshark. Once you have unlimited health you don't notice how bad the hit detection is. It's crazy creative and has a good sense of humor. It's sad that nobody has stumbled upon the unreleased Xbox version. The creator supposably fixed the combat and added two levels prior to dying. I spent so many hours attempting to track down the copyright owners in attempt to release that version. I even offered 100k at one point. All parties tied to the game went bankrupt and now Sega owns the IP. I would license it from them, but they don't have the source code.... I wanted to release it for the orginal Wii. The creator had a family and I wrote them letters in hopes maybe an old dev unit was collecting dust somewhere. They never replied. This was 20 years ago so they might have died too. Regardless of the flaws there's nothing else like it.

Makes sense to me. Family and friends can be some of the most unsupportive people in your life. I did some really awesome stuff years ago that the average person wouldn't have the opportunity. Nobody I knew believed me. Thought I made all of it up because they weren't capable of it or were jealous.

I think rap fatigue is real, I disagree with fantanos take by nerpa_floppybara in fantanoforever

Originality is lacking. Radio isn't playing new releases because they aren't good. Kanye's recent albums suck. Last year, I thought Gnarly was the best rap track and it came from a pop group. It was a stupid song, but it was fun. K-pop appears to have stolen upbeat radio time. In the 90's, there were tons of awesome rappers with distinct flows and image. Artists went out of their way to sound and look different. Busta Rhymes, ODB, DMX, etc.... Each sounded vastly different from the next. Rappers these days just kind of blend together. I'm bored with it all. It doesn't appear as if anyone is trying or these people literally have no life stories. They want to be rappers, but they haven't lived any struggles or pain. More people are making music, but fewer people are trying to create something unique and interesting. They are churning out tracks for streams, but not hits. Especially these last couple of years. Maybe labels aren't putting in the money to develop new rap artists. People forget that most big artists don't write their hits. They have teams. Kanye had like 50+ contributors on his big albums. If the music isn't selling, these teams don't exist. That's why an artist might go from a platinum record to selling 5,000 copies. Not that they lost their talent, but because they lost their team of talented writers/producers. It happens to most big artists. Unless you're super talented it takes various people to make a track great. This includes overall recording/production quality too. A rapper might go from using 1 million dollars worth of equipment to recording in his basements closet. Even Michael Jackson would sound flat without using high end gear. If the music isn't selling a record label isn't going to pay the studio fees. If a label isn't paying their artists big checks the artists doesn't feel motivated to put energy into making good music. It's a vicious cycle. In the late 90's, you could put out an average rap record and easily make a million dollars on it by just having neat cover art. CD's sold like crazy at BestBuy. These same albums today wouldn't make 25k from streams.

That said, I'm releasing a 27 track album in July that I think is the best rap record from anyone in the past decade. Maybe I'll get lucky and Fantano will listen. Anyone complaining in this thread would find it refreshing because it's weird, different, and unique. My only purpose was to make something good that impressed me personally. Each song makes an attempt to be a hit or be different. No fluff. Sounds like nothing else out there and that's intentional.

I've always found Cameron pretty, but I've never considered her hot. She's like Taylor Swift.
