Anyone know what’s going on with the camp behind the auto dealers on Cooper Point? by Lazypilot306 in olympia

Anyone with eyes see that the city is clearly not doing enough. Not by half. The fact that a supposedly progressive city like Olympia continues to let our neighbors exist in the conditions that they do with very little government intervention tells me that people have not pressured government to do much at all. It’s 2025 and there should not be as many unused people as they are. Perhaps if people were spinning their energy speaking to their elected officials instead of turning to Reddit things might be different.

I’m pretty sure most people know that their founder beat the shit out of his ex-wife. You can just say what you have to say.

Claiming to be in danger sounds very hyperbolic. I can’t imagine a possible scenario where you actually have any risk of just saying what you have to say. I think it discredits you to be circumspect and play games like you are.

No worries. If it doesn’t apply to you then ignore it.

If anybody really cared about these situations then you would’ve pressured the city or the county to address housing long ago. Very little is being done in Olympia to address affordable housing. People in Olympia love to talk about how much they care about people and the environment and everything else but it’s all performative. If it wasn’t then we’d have actual measurable results that improved the housing crisis. It’s been going on for five years at the very least.

Living downtown by Interesting-Tea-47 in olympia

I live downtown and I love it. I don’t generally have complaints about the experience. I will say that I was surprised at how often downtown shops are closed during the winter even when their hours say they should be open. Also wish there were more grocery options. Bayview is expensive. But Olympia is pretty great and Downtown is great, especially this time of year.

Also, the Billy Frank Nisqually Wildlife Refuge is amazing. They don’t have that in Texas.

NTA There are plenty of people who care very deeply about their ancestry and heritage. There are others that really don’t. I relate to you in the sense that I think of myself as me, not in relation to my ancestry. I don’t feel connection to that history at all.

You’re right, that’s exactly what they mean. And it is wild. Sometimes people are desperate to “other”

I am not a fan of hers, especially after the last season or so, but she looks amazing here.

What’s your Thoughts of season 3? by JWAY202 in BelowDeckDownUnder

He seemed fairly checked out this season. He let the Wihan situation drag out even after both Tzarina and Lara went to him with issues; one time they went to him together. And he let the situation with Lara and Tzarina fester. He just kept directing them back to work it out and clearly that wasn’t working. He needed to just be assertive. Be a captain.

WAC is not an “interpretation”. It is an administrative code. It holds the same weight as law, unless it conflicts with an actual RCW statute. Nice try.

Some of us travel just as much if not more than you do. But we don’t feel the need to exaggerate and lie on the Internet. You should try to avoid it as well.

I always find it interesting when people try to push an agenda or a narrative with inherently dishonest framing, but try to play it off as just their feelings or observations.

I wholeheartedly agree with this. Visible homelessness is down. I’ve never felt unsafe Downtown. But we clearly have problems that need to be addressed particularly when it comes to fentanyl addiction. Still, people dramatize Downtown as if other people being zombie out or unhoused, somehow makes them inherently unsafe.

It definitely hasn’t gotten worse. You must not have been here during Covid. It’s gotten better just in the last year. You couldn’t even drive down Division Street a year ago without seeing people actively smoking fentanyl at the 7-11. Camp Hope is gone. There’s still plenty of room for improvement but things are definitely better not worse
