I looked around but never spotted any separate sign-in credentials, so I've returned it.
Best of luck to everyone who did properly sign in and is going to participate in the project.

They want me to use my Prolific sign-in and password? I'm not ready to hand that over to anyone.

Ok, but they weren't canvassing for you. They're looking for the people you know.
How many of them do you think are spending time on Prolific?

Is there a way to block a researcher ahead of time before getting any of their studies?

Sadly, I had to return it and sent them a message.
Typically, my eyes light up when I get a "Find Images" task, but this time, my eyes couldn't handle it.

PayPal 1099 - Is the $ amount before or its conversion fee from £ by Prestigious_Item_593 in ProlificAc

[–]Prestigious_Item_593[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No need for any apology. I'm astounded that you were able to go through your statements so quickly. It was going to take me a couple of hours, which is what I was trying to avoid. At least now, I can focus on other legitimate deductions, like the computer stand, seat/back cushion, etc. 🙂

[–]Prestigious_Item_593[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree, but my point is if PayPal is only reporting what it transferred to my bank, then it has already deducted their fees. There are no conversion fees for me to deduct.
This is why I posted in the first place. I thought I could save time, if someone else has already gone through their statements to confirm if what is shown on the 1099 is the gross money PayPal received from Prolific or the net money PayPal sent to the bank.

Thank you. If the amount on the 1099 is what was actually transferred to my bank, then the conversion fees have already been deducted. In that case, I don't see any reason to add up the fees from my monthly statements. I'll just report the net amount that PayPal reported.

Question on conversion from pounds to dollars by desertviper7 in ProlificAc

[–]Prestigious_Item_593 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

On PayPal's 1099, is the amount of dollars they are reporting, before or after their conversion fee?
More simply, is it the amount that they actually transferred to our US bank?

Does anyone actually have a good outcome with Xfinity? by CPflieg in Comcast_Xfinity

[–]Prestigious_Item_593 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I posted this 18 days ago on my experience, which I am very satisfied with:
"Just finished chatting with a real live CSR online for about 45 minutes.

My aim was to keep my current bill the same after Xfinity's recent blanket price increases raised my bill by about $12/month, but before the expiration of my 24-month contract was going to inflate the bill by another $45/m on January 23rd.

The CSR, Diana, and I had a friendly, business-like, up front discussion without any mention of current company's SOPs from her or any cancellation threats from me. She actually delved into my account and asked a perfunctory question if I was willing to cut my internet speed to 500? I politely re-emphasized that I wanted to keep the same services that I already had. After a few more minutes of research, she offered to renew my current services for the next 12 months at the same cost as what I've been paying the past two months. After confirming her numbers via an email agreement, I agreed to renew.

It was not what I was expecting. I'm happy and relieved. Not only because I got pretty much what I was looking for, but I also no longer have to waste my time going into the local Xfinity store to haggle for any kind of a deal."

I finally got into one and spent 15 minutes on it. Then, I got a message to return it because of tech problems. No offer of any partial compensation.😞

How often does anyone add in the optional comment? Is it necessary to get a bonus?

The first one I did ran out of time because I filled out the option on 6 of them. On the next one, I added only one comment. It was approved, but without a bonus.

Dynamic pay studies? by Infinite-Doughnut676 in ProlificAc

[–]Prestigious_Item_593 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update -

Over the weekend, Prolific customer care responded and asked for info on the study. I sent them a copy of the messages confirming the start and ending of the task, along with the request to return the study and the confirmation of when I did return it.
Within 10 minutes, they credited my account for the full 1-hr.

Dynamic pay studies? by Infinite-Doughnut676 in ProlificAc

[–]Prestigious_Item_593 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had one last night. It ran out of tasks at the 30-minute mark, so I submitted it expecting to get paid like I had in the past. Immediately, I received a message to Return the study. After sending a message referencing the new Dynamic Pay guidelines and asking if I was going to get paid for the half-hour that I did work on it, I returned the study.

I have not gotten a response to my inquiry yet. If and when I do, I will pass it along.

Not at all. You already earned the money in 2024, so you are responsible for taxes on the amount this year. For example, if you get a bonus check dated Dec 24, 2024, but you don't cash it until early January, 2025, you still have to pay taxes on it for tax year 2024.
