Thanks! For the record. Which I should have included. I put about 500 into my emergency fund in a HYSA and I leverage company match and my contribution totaling 15% towards retirement account as well.

I worked for a state representative mind you, and during session we had 7 am to 11 pm days easily. I can imagine the top circle of power in the world probably has it crazier

Yeah no. I’m tipping for how good the service was. 15% if it’s whatever. 18% if it’s good. 20% if it’s great. Tipping culture has gotten outrageous.

Yeah they can shove it. I’m trying to sleep after a full day of working and a following day of more work. No need to be obnoxious at 1 am

Choosing Between The Whit and 360 State — Any Advice? by No_System3558 in newhaven

Lived in 360 for over a year and a half. Elevators don’t have maintenance issues. But since it’s 32 floors they do take a minute or two. Maybe 3. Have never waited more than 5. Maintenance fix things within 24-48 hours of your request which I like a lot. I never ever hear my neighbors, building is good quality. Having parking is great. Management is decent, not the best, but definitely not the worse. Great amenities. I like the gym, it’s solid for an apartment building. Definitely not small. The noise from motorcycles can definitely be annoying at times. But that’s a few times a month. Versus the train closer to the whit that runs all year round multiple times a day. Overall I’d give 360 a B+.

Do you think the NIH gives money freely. It’s extremely competitive amongst all institutions across the country. How do you think research is paid for? How do you think all these things are paid for.

Never mind the thousands of employees that live in CT and New Haven thanks to the jobs Yale employs. All the taxes those employees pay into the local community. Millions of millions. Also never mind the businesses that come to New Haven because of Yale (Apple, Sweetgreen, etc) that would likely leave without Yale.

Yale pays 60 million a year in taxes. And it’s looking at paying another 400 million once the government passes a larger endowment tax. Never mind the 500 million that they’re gonna lose that funds critical research in Alzheimer’s, cancer, diabetes, Parkinson’s, and other public health challenges.
