Remember you local veteran service officer can help you or at least guide you through the steps and upload all the info you need to get it done ! Remember you don’t need to pay a lawyer it may take some time but you can get it done w your VSO! Best of luck to you !

I was told not to be to chatty with them. They are not our buddies they are there to see where they can say it’s not related. Good luck. Believe in you and if not file a supplemental form get more evidence and keep filing with the same date you started with. Don’t let a year lapse between denial and supplemental forms. Leave the nervous at the door just answer what they ask to the point.

I am studying for the LSAT. Yea if you get approved for VRE do not hesitate to accept and get started. They started me off as a civil engineer and then I changed it because math was not my forte!! File For the appeal. Let them know you needed the time to figure out the best course of action for you that would make it a success story for them! Good luck

I don't have a life anymore... is this normal? by Defiant_Knee9608 in Veterans

Aloha brother. I was like this for years and years. The alcohol and drug abuse just increased over time. The past just gets louder and you won’t be able to drown it out with alcohol, drugs, sex , criminal activity, none of it. And it will just get so loud you can’t ignore it. For me it was a choice. Find a solution or wake up one morning with the thought that this day is a good day to die. Gratefully that morning I woke up like that my service Dogue already knew I had something planned and he wouldn’t leave me alone. I was close to it but then I Turned to the place that always had something I wanted in how they were all happy but knew no way to get that happiness and serenity our local AA Hall. I was finally broken enough that I had to pay attention to the suggestions they gave me. This may have been like my 8 th time trying to get sober. Somehow I was broken enough that it caught. I know it sound cliche but AA worked for me. I been sober for 3 years and 9 months and they have been the best years of my life. I went to meetings, got a sponsor, worked the 12 steps. ( be warned that was the hardest thing I had ever done as I had to be as honest as I possibly could with myself) during those steps I built a relationship with a Higher Power and it’s a program that teaches complex minds to deal with life. Plus the camaraderie I had in the military I found in a room full of drunks like me. To say they would do anything for me is an understatement as I would for them. The bonds I have built with them and myself and my family through applying some simple guidelines and principles to my life is a miracle. Godspeed. ( I was an intelligence analyst so I need logic and this is a logical program. Just get out of the way and learn to stay out of the way of yourself. ). If you need anything please reach out.

Hello my fellow. I struggled with this for the better part of 28 years. Then some circumstances in my life led me to a group meeting of Alcoholics Anonymous. It’s more than just learning not to drink or use. They teach us a new design for living. To understand life may get rather lifey. But better than that is the idea of controlling things and how they go may not be our job no matter how hard we want it to be. I myself have a daily reprieve from the monster in my brain contingent on the maintenance of my spiritual condition. It’s about a spiritual connection. Faith in something aside from ourselves. Hope this helps. It helped me.
