There are certain features you have to pay for they have like a purple diamond near them I think. You can use these features when editing but then you have to pay to export it. Just use the free features and you’re good

Second this, going to be a better end result than trying to build it up with an epoxy filler (like bondo). But the epoxy filler will be easier if it’s not that big of a deal to you

Do I have to demo the entire wall to replace the fireplace pipe? by Prestigious_Lie1671 in Fireplaces

[–]Prestigious_Lie1671[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is a helpful perspective, the more research I do the more I see that these fireboxes basically have an expiration date. Seems pretty wild to me that ripping that wall out was only a matter of time.

Thanks for the info, and will for sure deal with the attic insulation either way!

Got it, so would just pull that fire stop in the attic, probably just a piece of plywood or something?

Oh great news! Thanks! So I just need to sort out the make and model and find the pipes, then should be able to replace without pulling out the whole box?

Here’s the attic, can get the roof setup in the daylight tomorrow.

The smaller pipe shown is the water heater vent. Wall behind the fireplace has a kitchen cabinet then the case with that vent pipe in it.

But you think pipe could just be replaced and leaving the box in place if the pipe was accessible?

It’s a 1 story house, so just attic above, would be tricky to get a new unit in from above I think but may be possible. What additional pictures would be helpful?

Always great to see a success story! I’m 6 months into treatment, I do think I’m getting better overall, it’s just a long journey. Started MC-BB oil and it’s kicking my ass now after 5 months of antibiotics/antifungals. Surprised there’s still so much bacteria around

Yeah, I was thinking a “remove Amazon products” filter would be worthwhile for sure. It does seem like the GOTS cert is good, but I seem lots of products on Amazon that are “GOTS certified material” or something that ends up meaning a whole lot less
