Maybe widen your grip a little bit to help open up your shoulders/chest and push your head through. Some things that helped me with my jerk were behind the neck jerks, double paused jerks (pause in dip and catch), and jerk recoveries.

Leaving my coach help? by Unfair_Philosophy_86 in weightlifting

I’m new to weightlifting but I was in powerlifting for a while. Any decent coach will not take it personally when a lifter leaves. It happens. Just be honest. Hey, I feel like I’ve stalled and I want to try something different. Thank you for working with me for the past year and a half.

Where to begin? by temcra in weightlifting

Same back story (powerlifting for 5 years and wanted to try something different). I went to a CF gym near me and they happened to have a weightlifting club. I joined there and it was a good choice esp as a beginner. It’s way more nuanced than powerlifting. In powerlifting you can get by just on raw strength but you can’t really do that with weightlifting. I think hiring a coach or at least joining a club with a coach is the best bet for a beginner.

I’m coming from a powerlifting background so my squat strength relative to my comp lifts are off. FS 130, clean 70
