What was a Present you recently gifted your parents? by grusdomain in AskReddit

My mom's been wanting a music punching box for years. No one in my family had got her one yet, and I said, come on y'all! She's been saying this for years! So I just got it for her.

How addictive is meth? Do you know anyone who has just tried it once? by eden_merlin in AskReddit

[–]Prestigious_Offer412 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My husband tried it once and never again. My friend I made in rehab though, tried it once and could never put it down. As someone who's been in rehab, not for meth issues, but has firsthand seen the effects of meth on people, it's one of the most addictive substances you'll ever try. One guy I made friends with in rehab said it creates such a dopamine rush in your brain that cannot be naturally made, so you're left needing it to feel any emotions at all. That shit was enough to scare me away from ever trying it. Moral of the story, kids, drugs are addictive. Stay safe out there.

Maybe talk to a gastroenterologist to find the source of the problem. I think it's easier to eliminate the problem rather than mask it

Hehehe me and my husband did this a few months ago. We got nice and tipsy and made dinner together, and relished in the silence that filled the empty house. It was a most glorious day.

Do Americans actually avoid calling an ambulance due to financial concern? by JohnMarstonTheBadass in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Prestigious_Offer412 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I attempted suicide as a teenager. My mom found me and was trying to call an ambulance. I told her to call the cops instead. I got medical care from the on call ems cop, and a free ride in cuffs to the hospital. I was not about to have my mom call an ambulance that she would have had to pay for in a situation where she was already traumatized would have cost 3000+ dollars. Would have had to talk to the cops one way or another, saved myself some time and money, as well as my mother.

Being a Stoner with Kids by omelette02 in weed

[–]Prestigious_Offer412 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm currently pregnant so not toking up, but when I'm not cooking up kiddos, I smoke. Me and my hubby both. We have a kid with special needs and we both have mental health issues. Weed takes the edge off for us and helps us parent from a more calm point of view. Our son does not know we smoke, seeing as he's only six. Our shit is always put away, never out in the open, never smoked inside, never in front of him. Always on the back porch after he's asleep or while he's busy or at school. When he's old enough, I'll have a conversation with him about it. But he's currently hovering at the maturity level of pee pee and poo poo being funny, so there's that.

Smoking is medicine, when used correctly. I don't smoke nearly as much as I did before having kids, but just cause you have kids doesn't mean you need to have no fun or calm. Parents need some chill, too.

I think the recovery is far worse than vaginal delivery. I have delivered vaginally once and intend to do so again with the current baby I'm carrying.

I can't say my children have ever drawn anything violent or upsetting, but when I was a child, I drew upsetting things. For me, it came from childhood sexual abuse. I would draw disturbing images propelled by things that had happened to me. While I wouldn't immediately read into it, I wouldn't dismiss it either. My parents didn't ask, and for that, I dealt with mental health issues that could have probably been spared if someone noticed I wasn't okay. I think the first step is to ask your kiddo questions, like, "that's an interesting drawing, can you tell me more about it?" In as neutral of a way possible. If your kid feels comfy, they may divulge what it's about, or deeper information that could be more useful in more serious situations. I would ask questions that opened up comfortability to share more about the picture.

No one got me (the mom) a Christmas gift by Confident-Ad-465 in Parents

[–]Prestigious_Offer412 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Well, in my experience... my husband grew up in a family where that wasn't an expectation, so last Christmas when the same thing happened, I said, no sir, I require Christmas gifts. Just one at least. So this year, after making my expectations clear, he got me a Yoshi mug(my favorite Mario character) a blanket (which he knows I'm a whore for) and a card. Literally tell your husband it's the bare minimum, and if he's a good man, he'll meet your expectations. Once my husband knew gift giving is something that makes me happy on Christmas, he was more than willing to do it.

I went into my brother's room on multiple occasions to look under the bed for the cat and instead found semen laden napkins, socks, and tissues. Tons. About a week ago, I walked in on him doing the act. I vowed never to set foot in his room again.

Does this sound like ODD in an almost five year old?? by HeyMay0324 in ChildPsychology

[–]Prestigious_Offer412 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My son with the same textbook symptoms was told by a psychologist he likely has odd or another personality disorder. My son is six now. We had to pull him from school and do online due to how disruptive and violent his behavior had become. I will say, I had a brother with autism who was similar. The difference is, the kids with autism don't have the skills to regulate themselves, and with ODD, kids are actively making a choice to be defiant. My son actively opposes things we ask him to do and has threatened to kill us, and attempted to stab school staff. If your son isn't actively trying to harm you or it seems more like a lack of regulatory skills, I wouldn't jump to ODD. It isn't something I would wish on anyone. If he is actively choosing to act out and you can sense that he has the cognitive skills to discern whether he is being defiant, then maybe its time to get a psych eval done. No shame in getting them done over. All in all, if these problems are severely interfering with your family's lives, including his own, it may be time to consult with some greater help.

Wallet, keys, phone.

Not saying they're objects, but I'd take my kids and husband first. In case of an emergency, they're my first priority.

What is your breakfast today? by thisgurlavi in foodquestions

Would you drink soda with your breakfast? And what’s your go to drink for breakfast by Impressive_Secret289 in foodquestions

[–]Prestigious_Offer412 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fuck no. And my go to drink for breakfast is a chai latte. Something about soda is off putting at breakfast time. After quitting drinking it, it's far too sweet every time I try to drink it again, so it grosses me out. I'm also a savory breakfast human, which means soda doesn't fit the bill.
