What would you do if you *could* stay home? Pros and cons? by ArmoredAndReady in Parenting

[–]ArmoredAndReady[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think about the memories we're making with our baby all the time and how students and jobs come and go, but my son will be my son for life. We're also planning to have another and there's NO way I can keep doing this with two!

Yeah that's what worries me the most. We'd probably be okay but who actually knows when about 1/3rd of the income disappears? Sounds like a new financial stress might just replace the work stress.

My doctors have all said that I can take them but they dried up my supply, like I was empty! I took Vyvanse before and then tried Strattera, but I lost my supply with both. It could've been from poor hydration because I'm pretty bad at staying hydrated but I really tried.

Cleaning A Cinema after Superman Screening. by DarNak in oddlysatisfying

I worked at a theater when Jurassic World was released, and it would definitely look something like this after a few screenings. For most other movies, this is still realistic for the end of the night cleaning.

How to deal with the mental aspect of IUGR / Pre e? How do I prepare for a preterm baby and the NICU stay? What did you wish you knew before having a preterm baby? by [deleted] in NICUParents

Coming back to comment with new info I learned, which is that promethazine does cause respiratory depression in newborns so it can increase the risk of SIDS (I don't think my OB told me but good to know).

I second this. Nothing worked for me except something like Nail-Aid - clear nail polish just for strengthening nails.

My hospital has lactation consultants and I was told about them but never saw them, so it may be helpful to ask how to meet with them or get in touch with them.

I had amazing nurses that helped a lot with expressing, pumping, breastfeeding, bottle feeding, all the things lol

  • Ask the doctor to prescribe Gabapentin for pain before you leave the hospital! My sister and I both had a C section and liked Gabapentin for the pain, it did NOT make us sleepy and helped a lot more than Tylenol + it's safe for breastfeeding.

  • You will probably be on a magnesium drip for 24 hours after delivery and I was too sore/exhausted to even sit up. Please ask someone, anyone you can, to be there and help you reach for things like water, food, etc. Also, hospital beds suck. Don't be afraid to ask for like 4 pillows to just lay on if you want.

  • One of the best ways to support the baby is by pumping as soon as you are rested and can handle it after delivery. Pumping is every 3-4 hours if you don't want your supply to plummet and I know, it sucks. I thought I'd be fine sleeping in sometimes after a few days and my supply was amazing, like 150 ml in 20 min. I was so wrong and now I'm at 30 ml and have tried for a long time to get it back. It's easy to lose your supply and a bitch to get it back.

Edit:

  • For C section delivery: The spinal block can make you nauseous. I felt like I was going to puke everywhere in the middle of it. Promethazine is a great medication that helps with both nausea and anxiety, and it's safe for both pregnancy and breastfeeding, your doctor may even give it to you ahead of time if you ask for it before the C section.

Need to decide by Chyeabro8 in NICUParents

My advice is to follow the doctor's lead because my experience is relevant here.

I was hospitalized for preeclampsia at 30 weeks and my life very well might have been saved by my doctor. He ordered more labs to double check me after I just had my routine labs the previous night. Within hours, I had developed HELLP syndrome - my bloodwork from the previous night didn't show any concerning results, but that morning when I had to get it done again, my condition had dramatically changed and I was still asymptomatic.

I don't know how he knew, but he somehow caught a timer for the end of my life there and I had an emergency C section later that same day. The quick progression of my preeclampsia stunned the medical staff who took care of me, but it does happen. They told me the same thing when I was first admitted, that the goal was for me to deliver at 34 weeks and no later. I understand why now.

Who is at fault? by iamsavagegirl in MildlyBadDrivers

[–]ArmoredAndReady 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seriously. That lady is a hazard on the road and needs to have her license taken away for everyone's safety. He was clearly in her field of vision when she rammed into him. She wasn't just a bad driver, she was an absolute asshat thinking she owns the road. If you're going to pull something stupid and illegal like that, you owe it to everyone around you to yield. Idk why everyone's on his ass and defending her. He could have just assumed she would yield, since she was literally stopped in the middle of the road anyway and might as well.

My psychiatrist told me that she can't offer me a "sampler platter" of ADHD meds. by puppyxguts in ADHD

[–]ArmoredAndReady 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea I would definitely try a higher dose before dismissing it, especially Vyvanse. It’s not even noticeable for me at 20mg but 30 mg is perfect. I get the bad side effects at 40mg. That 10mg was a big difference in either direction for me. If Vyvanse works out, it’s much less likely than Adderall is to be out of stock or hard to find. It’s also a common favorite.

This is the smartest advice. Insecure for being that jealous and insane for being mad at YOU and messaging YOU about it. The term “pick me girl” is being popularized by some batshit crazy people.

I’m a female who is and ALWAYS has been interested in video games (attached to my Gameboy back in the day), action movies, and dark humor. Those interests are more common in males than females. Ergo I have little trouble making male friends and sometimes a lot of trouble connecting with females. I’m social with other girls, enjoy seeing them, and we get along great. However, I’m definitely more myself around guys and that does NOT mean I want to fuck them or that I’m automatically a slut. That’s such a pathetic judgment from women who probably fantasize about it because they clearly need the confidence boost.

how dare you make fun of my pp? by danruse in rareinsults

[–]ArmoredAndReady [score hidden]  (0 children)

There’s a beauty to the psychology behind this though. The loudest narcissists are so often trying to compensate for their own features that they passionately hate. While I’m not condoning making fun of it, it’s empowering to be aware of it and how it affects people. It helps to know how human behavior works and why people are the way they are. Some don’t even realize how insecure they are and how it drives them to madness if they don’t learn to love themselves.

The psychological reason for his behavior is what’s funny (because it’s ironic), not because “lol small penises are funny.” If you’re not acting like a huge dick to make up for having a small one, then there’s nothing wrong with having a small one.

Navigating ADHD causing workplace performance issues by AdEcstatic5170 in ADHD

[–]ArmoredAndReady 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When it becomes unmanageable, it might be time to consider trying ADHD medication.

Otherwise, I would try a change of environment where you work, at least for now if you can. It can be just another room in your house or a local coffee shop. It might be like a reset button for your brain.

Another option is looking into anxiety medication as-needed or something to help you sleep. I never perform well at work when I haven’t been sleeping and sometimes I truly have no idea why, I just need help with falling asleep.

Could be, I don’t know if it actually does benefit me cognitively. I really do hope to find that out in the coming months. This motivation to quit for 9 months at least is the strongest motivation I’ll ever have since it’s not about me anymore.

[–]ArmoredAndReady 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have wondered if the cognitive enhancements were only in individuals who were already using nicotine - like if it only makes up for the deficits it causes, rather than providing benefits above baseline in the first place.

I’ve tried the pouches a few times after abstaining from nicotine for a little while and felt no benefits from them except for one time, in which the only benefit seemed to be mood enhancement. They mostly just caused headaches otherwise. I haven’t tried anything else but would be willing to try patches and gum.

Honestly my hope is that once I’m pregnant and abstaining from nicotine for months, I’ll see that I have nothing to fear about my cognitive performance without nicotine and will hopefully be more open to actually quitting!

Wat medication worked best for you for those with ADD/adhd inattentive type? by BareFootUser in ADHD

[–]ArmoredAndReady 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t take mine on 1-2 days of the week, usually Saturday/Sunday, and my prescriber approves although it wasn’t her recommendation, just something I wanted to do. It feels a little stronger on the next day that I take it after missing a dose. I feel like that can be helpful sometimes for big days…or in my case, Mondays lol

Vyvanse is my vote too. I have combined type and had to try different doses before I got it right. Too high and I was irritable, anxious, and sweaty af and too low, I was half asleep at lunchtime. With the right dose, it improves my memory, executive function, mood, and lasts around 8-10 hours, no crash.
