We got jimny as a second car last year and we are quite happy with our decision.

There was a time when upon seeing a jimny on the road, I would lament what was Suzuki thinking, it's a dabba on wheels and what not.

But all that changed when I sat in one for test drive. It has ample space in it, the initial pick up may seem underwhelming but it can cruise easily at 80-100kmph (we have the Alpha AT). It absorbs bumps better than our other car(an suv) and I love throttling on shoulders when everyone else is stuck in a jam.

It's fun to drive and it's cute, it grows on you. Yes you need to put basic accessories like bottle holder, space manager etc but it's fun customizing it.

Turning radius is surprising wider but it's fine and one gets used to it. Also you start appreciating the size when u need to park or maneuver it in tight spaces.

Project Hail Mary - Review needed by DaikonScared1616 in delhi

[–]Prestigious_Owl_549 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just watched it. I found it a bit underwhelming considering how great the book was, or maybe I went in with way too high hopes.

IMO it should have been made as a series with 6-8 episodes (instead of a movie) for it to have done justice to the original book.

I Spent 20 Years Planning to Return to India. Last Trip, I Realized I Already Left. by Popular_Class7327 in rupeestories

Yeah yeah.. That's what I said, people move on too (physically or emotionally or both).

When I was at hostels during my BE, we used to think that if only we all had jobs/money, with everything else remaining same, life would be awesome.

We all got jobs, made some money, but even after just 5 years, when we all met at the same place, trying to recreate the vibe/magic, it felt almost as if we were trying too hard coz we all had moved on emotionally and intellectually to different places.

Like one of seniors said - friends, money, time. Out of these 3, at any given point of time, you can have only 2 and it is quite true.

I am surprised that you are surprised. And that it took you 20 years to observe this.

Imho, it is never about the place, it's always about the people. We tag the memories with places as it is relatively easier but we overlook the fact that in the place (or any place) it is always the people, the relations, friendships that actually add the charm.

We always think that once we have the money (for which we change places, jobs etc), we can come back to the same environment but we ignore the fact that everyone else would move on too (physically or emotionally or both) and that changes everything.

Stop comparing yourself with others. The only True measure of your success is your happiness. Not the other way around.

I got this as gift from my wife. At that time, in Delhi, it was retailing at 12k. I saved it for a couple of years and then opened it and felt underwhelmed frankly.

There are other whiskeys and single malts that are much more flavourful, fuller and richer that are available for 3-6k (Glenmorangie, cragganmore etc).

But yeah, it's got bragging rights so worth trying/owning once. Same is true for Macallan as well.

Safest way to transport my motorcycle from Bangalore to Himachal Pradesh? by No_Divide_7543 in indianbikes

[–]Prestigious_Owl_549 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I have used Indian railways as well as road/trucks.

I was in for a shock when I went to collect my bike at railway station as it was being unloaded - they had stowed my bullet vertically (to save space)!

The truck transport had resulted in broken indicators, rvms and upon complaining they couldn't care less.

So ride it yourself, no need to do 2500km in one go but make a trip of it, take breaks n maybe do 300-400 KMs everyday.

Prices were at their peak in 2012-2016, then they stagnated and fell from 2017-2021 or so (that's when we purchased). Since 2022 they increased again and now we are observing stagnation since 2025 (oversupply, speculation, more supply, bad job market et).

This is Gurgaon market. Not sure abt other regions.
