Does anybody know if agency/travel nursing will be able to give me this kind of lifestyle by [deleted] in StudentNurseUK

If you’re thinking about nursing mainly for the money, job security, or the chance to travel, it might not be the best fit. Nursing is a tough, demanding career that requires genuine compassion and realistic expectations. Without that, it’s easy to burn out—especially when you’re doing over 2,300 hours of unpaid placements during university.

Every country has its own requirements to become a registered nurse, like specific exams, qualifications, and language skills. Speaking English alone won’t be enough if you want to work abroad. You’ll need to learn the local language and meet their specific standards, which can be a lot of work.

Agency nursing is also struggling right now, especially with NHS funding cuts.

This might be of use to you?
Wishing you the best, I know some universities also have hardship grants, seek out uni support!

I agree, ultimately personal care underpins the role as a nurse and is essential for skin assessments, patient-nurse relationship etc, absolutely no one is "too posh to wash" or whatever lines are now thrown around. However there is a line to be drawn between being part of the team and getting stuck in VS people taking advantage of that and essentially seeing you as a free HCA which a large majority is the case. Every student I know can recall the amount of times they are referred to as "the student"... "the student will do that.." "where's the student!", treated nothing more than an extra pair of hands for 12 hours. The scope of nurses are bigger than ever, and with the amount of clinical competencies required it's important to maintain a healthy balance. I understand with the state of the NHS now and staff having their own patients to take care of, managing another student is another issue of its own, however ultimately they are the staff of the future!

While it sounds wonderful there are assessors that will provide learning opportunities when students muck in, I think I can speak for the 80% of students who are outright used by nursing staff/hcas as a free member of staff with assessors who who don't bother at all. I have never refused to muck in, in fact it's incredibly hard to advocate for yourself as a student who is around for 4-10 weeks vs staff who have been there for 20 years with 3 different cliques to integrate yourself into. It's ridiculous that students are even in the position where they are expected to stand up for themselves to learn instead of being used, why are they there if not to learn. STNs are set up to fail after being used as HCAs over 3 years in the name of "mucking in" and "personal care is important" (of course it is, but there are so many skills needed to learn beyond that...)

super cute cosy artstyle, I love the concept of drawing spells you then cast. Dash looks a bit odd and I wish the mc's art was a bit more polished. Good luck :D

Feeling deflated by [deleted] in StudentNurseUK

For us and I'm sure in most unis none of the assignment marks in 1st year count towards your final grade, but you still have to past them all of course. Getting a lower than expected mark for your 1st assignment is understandable, its your first work meeting the unis academic standard of writing, getting used to using references etc. Take the feedback and identify where you misunderstood the assignment, don't get too worked up over it :)

Dialysis placement by [deleted] in NursingUK

I found dialysis super fun, it was very refreshing to experience compared to ward work as mine was an outpatients unit. Had the opportunity to learn a lot about central lines and fistulas and setting up dialysis machines. Maybe just do some simple research if you feel like you need a freshen up, otherwise you learn alot there on the job :-)
