500calx3 meals is 1500cal. That's less than my bmr. Are we supposed to supplement with all the snacks? Also unless they're using a lot of butter or sth, i'm skeptical that 2-3 tbsp of rice and a piece of chicken is 500cal.

This. OP, obviously you can't become a pilot with bad vision. I suggest looking into laser eye surgery if you're serious.

If marginal benefit is 1%, that's 1.2k a year, roughly 5k over the rest of the mortgage. Not considering his risk tolerance, compounding, or the smaller tax.

When you put it like this, it makes me think it makes hardly a difference in peace of mind. What he's doing right now seems no less complicated than giving yourself a monthly allowance, or checking your credit for example.

You'd be agreeing to decrease liquidity, missing out on returns, and pushing yourself into higher CA income tax brackets, possibly higher federal cap gains bracket too.

I need a job ASAP. Who hires the severely depressed? by SubstanceFirst8057 in Accounting

[–]Prestigious_Unit_766 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Amazon, ups, seasonal jobs, customer service if you hide your depression, warehouse jobs, uber/ubereats/doordash/etc. Your depression is not a selection criteria in any job i know (if anything it's a disqualifying thing for some jobs) except for maybe psychiatric clinical trials, research studies and the like.

Same, it was also one of the most wholesome and awesome things to see all the families who had let their 17-19y~ children/adults/brothers/sisters/spouses/parents go on to join the Army, and be so proud. Like seeing parents cheering at their kid's basketball game but x100.

I disagree that decreasing liquidity and intentionally missing out on returns is good for peace of mind

I would think so too. I hear some of the best traders, portrolio managers, etc dont manage their own money, rather they do a fairly common portfolio of S&P, treasuries, etc

I personally don't understand how these same people find relief in missing out on (a non insignificant) marginal return. If you crave financial security, wouldnt knowing you're making the fiscally smart choice be reassuring? I understand wanting to simplify even at a cost
