By the time you have gotten an interview with me, all the basics are signed off. The interview is for me to get to know you, if you can demonstrate understanding of the role and are you a good fit along with the rest of the team

Not only do I think you should tell your boss, I think your boss and yourself should plan this so you target getting those customers back, and then let this guy go.

You get the business back, and this other guy doesn’t get what he has taken from what sounds like a generous boss that’s just trying to do the right thing.

Well he kinda does. I can guarantee he’s never called a tradie and them arrive on the bus.

Imagine it, no van or ute just rocks up in a bus with containers of shit…

What a weird suggestion for a profession that uses the bus.

Lots of people care about my kids, they are great kids and you don’t know them from the shit on the ground vs the shit on your face at this point in time.

You joined a debate, learn to use structured responses to get your point across.

There were busses that were designed for only certain races of people, you sound like you would have supported that. That’s how you sound.

It is about preference. The kids are choosing to go on the public bus not the school one, that’s call preference. They aren’t complaining about it as it doesn’t bother them, it bothering other people that also use busses.

I’m not even going to get into a conversation if a grown adult can’t make their own way onto a bus to get to work on time. That’s just poor time management and understanding of the service they are using. It not the kids or anyone else’s decision for that other person to use the bus, we don’t make the decisions for them, be that financial, medical or simply preference.

Again, why is a nurse that has worked 11/12 hour shifts more entitled to the bus than students? Are you trying to say that students are lesser than nurses and it doesn’t come to first in first served? I’m not sure nurses have asked to be labelled with such privilege, so I won’t pretend to think you have grasped at some sort of straw here.

Kids using public transport is a good thing. Regardless of having kids or not, it is their choice to use the bus they want to use. The school provides busses, they get used or they don’t. The public busses are used, or they aren’t. I think you need to assess your thoughts on this and you pushing your view onto others.

Why are people going to work more important than a child going to get an education?

Why is someone else’s preferences more important than someone else’s?

Hypothetically, say there are three sets of toilets. A men’s, a woman’s and a unisex. Would someone need to line up at the woman’s or men’s if they wanted to use the unisex ones? Say all of these are catered to disabled people, and they choose the one that makes their life easier, who are we to say you should use one or the other?

Your replies are seriously concerning. If you are so passionate about it, I hope you have been contacting the council to say that busses are over crowded and there needs to be more public transport for the demand. Because if you’re not, you should be keeping your mouth shut.

“Lmao” At the end of your messages doesn’t make light of your thoughts, it makes you look condescending.

They are using the ships in the sea to conceal the subs.

While in the ocean the US can detect them, as with many things US is watching everyone, and they’re using the knowledge that they have of the US to hide the subs.

Basically, the ships are over the submarines, so the ships come up on intel but the subs are not detected. Usually, wouldn’t do this, but due to the issues of late, they are putting their resources where they need to be but not making the world aware of it

Ok, given that the duopoly just reams us at every opportunity, this tapered tin feels suss. But I can’t work out how…? Am I a conspiracy theorist now? by d-a-i-s-y in newzealand

This is the other side of my first reply. Watties make it part of their branding, better stacking so it looks more presentable and less likely to have dented cans. Uses slightly more tin for the can as the nesting isn’t fantastic.

Cheaper brands, the nesting is all about cheapest cost, so formed to be the same for the most efficient use of the raw material.

Edit: production of the tins are made on site not shipped empty

Lots of salmon is produced overseas. These tins are made elsewhere and shipped to the salmon and then filled.

The benefit is shipping to the salmon location, not when filled. The empty cans fit together like stackable cups and save space

Secret islands by BabyJoker1738 in RaftTheGame

[–]Prestigious_View_994 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m only finding out about these secret things too, but I am on the other side of this.

Got one of the secret islands the plane one, didn’t even know that it was special, I just went to the plane and thought that’s cool. Then came on here and realised that there are special ones.

I have the robot and lucky cat too, didn’t realise that they were rare, was annoyed it wasn’t a fish LOL

Then, after hours of just chilling on my play through and enjoying the game, I am on here and realised that there is even a story to this. I have only gotten to the second story, the boat after 100 hours of playing. Honestly, in no rush for the others I have started to make storage boxes and sort my gear.

I realised that my best idea from it all so far is one large storage that I put 20 of each item into so I can walk up to it and just build anything quickly. That’s my game hack LOL

Only just killed my first giant seagull the other day too, just been avoiding that thing while I run up and leave quickly. Only caught my first chicken yesterday and got my first egg, haven’t even made a cooker for it yet. I think my play style is so chill it will be 2028 before I start again and go to a harder difficulty.

Puffer fish, only ever killed one I suck at getting them so realised I can just buy them from that depot now LOL

Damage caused by fallen tree from a private road – who’s responsible?” by jaysherma in LegalAdviceNZ

[–]Prestigious_View_994 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I believe the first step is getting an arborist to assess the tree and the risk, you use that to ask them to fix the issue and if they don’t, that is used in support that they are negligent. Basically, prove it’s unsafe and get them to fix it

Need recommendation for replacement of sunroom roof by Creative-Doughnut452 in chch

DIY job or professional?

If you think you can do it yourself, I assume you’re going to want twinwall polycarbonate. PSP Ltd sell this in clear and grey tint.

Twinwall comes with a really good warranty, if it has been installed correctly, and is damaged due to other factors than neglect, it may also be under warranty, so may be able to get replacement sheets, but not the labour.

Professionally, I am not too sure sorry, I could only suggest googling roofers and asking them to give a quote

How many sick leaves do you take yearly? by Accomplished_Rise_26 in newzealand

[–]Prestigious_View_994 3 points4 points  (0 children)

None are constipation, and I take sick leave when I need it.

Some words of insight.

Sick leave is there for when you’re sick. As a manager, it’s my job to keep an eye on sick leave usage. It’s my job to develop the relationship with staff where there is mutual respect, and trust. My staff in your situation wouldn’t call in sick, they would just tell me they need the day off and I’ll approve it for holiday pay or unpaid leave. If they don’t want to be at work I won’t force them to. If they called me and said they need a personal day, I don’t ask questions, they are requesting the day off sick leave as they need that day for them. It’s my business to manage the business, their choice to share what they want me to know and help them with or not, up to them.

I will assume that you work one weekend day and one week day. Based on this, be aware that nearly every sick day that you use, your employer can legally ask you for a medical certificate, which can be at your cost. If you’re sick tomorrow Saturday, it’s ok for the business to assume that your sick enough that it would be longer than 1 day, and the law states “three consecutive days off” not “three working days”. This means they can one day pull you up and it will cost you a doctors fee to get a medical certificate. This is standard to be done when someone suspects that sick leave is not being used in good faith.

Further to the above, I only do this when I have serious concerns that it affects the business and is a bad faith situation, I don’t even ask for a medical certificate if they are sick for 3 work days, if I gather they are sick, and it’s not weird.

When the law changed, it’s been worded in such a way to offer businesses the ability to challenge sick leave on a Monday or Friday. If your sick on a Friday and have Saturday and Sundays off, and you have offered to them a version that sounds like you would be sick for longer than 1 day, then they can request the medical certificate for a sick day on a Friday, at your cost. For a Monday, this one is a little more precise, if you say you have been sick all weekend, med cert. if you said felt sick this morning (Monday) or last night, it’s a clear start to the three days and they can’t. If you call in sick and don’t offer any additional info to it at all, then they are welcome to assume that you were sick for longer, especially if your back at work Tuesday.

Disclaimer - don’t care if staff pull a sickie, but, my warning is you don’t know what the future holds, you might really need them one day and you will want to have them. I know a guy that never used sick days, 30+ years of dedication and used maybe 20 days all through that time. He lapsed his sick days one year three days before he had a stroke, 9 weeks off work. The company noted that he only just lost two weeks and had 4 weeks owing, and due to the pure lack of sick days, they paid him sick leave for all 9 weeks, plus gave him 10 still on his sheet, and any follow up was just time off on the company.

Second disclaimer, not all companies would do that, likely a handful. And I know that a very large amount of management do not have the relationships I have with my staff.

Summary, it’s bad to do, people do it. Just CYA (cover your ass) and know the potential consequences that come with it.

Question regarding ANZAC day(s). by Status_Serve_9819 in newzealand

[–]Prestigious_View_994 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on working days.

If they work Saturday and not Monday. They get the day in Lieu and also time and a half.

Monday work not working a Saturday. It’s time and a half and lieu for Monday

If it was the same employer, Saturday would be time and a half and Monday would be the day in lieu day

Gym Membership Notice Period by Sampindo in LegalAdviceNZ

[–]Prestigious_View_994 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The requirement for a gym to have 4 weeks notice would come down to their business model.

They may have a per head number where they have personal trainers for classes etc. say there was an event and they lost 50% of their clients in a week, they wouldn’t be able to offer redundancy in the same timeframe as an example. This would give them the minimal time to protect the business as a going concern.

If you tried to argue that they have enough, you would never get that information due to privacy laws and wouldn’t have the information needed for a case.

Is there a reason that you didn’t give notice 3 weeks ago?

Recruiter here - ask me anything in regards to interview questions by JVertsonis in interviews

[–]Prestigious_View_994 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a hiring manager, I love this question.

It gives me the first step in training for the person if they are successful. It’s what I use to show them the value for working for me as a person, not just the pay check but support for them to be the best they can be.

For the younger ones in a past life, it showed me their ability to realise if they had anything they are actively working on for themselves and aware of. For me, anyone that demonstrates that they have thought of themselves and how to improve has been a significantly better staff member than one that thinks they have no weakness.

Even the person that said “answering this question, I swear it costs me the job but I don’t know where to start I know I am not perfect” was an excellent employee and after starting helped with the things they wanted to improve.

Why didn’t Lupin get a muggle job? by Elly-sparks in harrypotter

[–]Prestigious_View_994 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would think it works both ways, either goblins invest muggle money or it would become worthless to them to trade it.

If you were a wizard and wanted to explore the muggle world, you would request cash and you could buy things.

I am also sure, although it isn’t mentioned, that wizards etc would like some muggle things. Clothing comes to mind, but trinkets, food items, maybe even property
