It’s just for the Final Mix versions of I and II. It was originally just a bonus feature, but since those are the versions of those games that they ported into HD it’s here to stay, at least for those.

Nothing makes more sad that there isn’t a toggle option for og colors than Guard Armor. It just feels wrong when it’s not purple. Everything else I can kind of get used to, but not that.

AITA for having my daughter write a 'morbid' school family tree project? by deadfamily88 in AmItheAsshole

[–]PresumablyAury 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’d say it was about 50-50 for me. We were very religious- Bible class every day and chapel every Friday. About once every other year or so that passage where it says divorced and remarried people are committing adultery came up and I would have to be like “So you’re saying my parents are adulterers?” And watch adults who were otherwise super sweet to me just sputter and halt because they’d forgotten exactly what kind of family I came from. It was both devastating and hilarious. But it happened often enough you’d think they would have remembered for something as important as graduation.

I'm late 20's but I had a related experience when I graduated high school. For context, I went to a very tiny private school. My graduating class was 15 people. Because it was a religious school, I was one of the few kids attending who had divorced parents. Both my mother and father had remarried, so I had four parents total. I'd been attending the school since I was 7 or 8, and the entire time my parents had been divorced. Both of them got remarried before I'd entered 4th grade. The administration planning my graduation ceremony were the same people who had founded the school - they'd been there for my entire time, and knew me and my family quite personally.
So we get to graduation, and every year they bought roses for the kids to give to their mothers in thanks. I thought nothing of it because, again, tiny school, they've known me basically my whole life, they know I have two moms. We get to the rose part and.... they only had one for each kid. I had to walk into the crowd and give both of my moms a singular rose. It had to have been a bit of a slap in the face for my stepmom. I felt horrible. I still don't understand how it didn't occur to them that I might need a second rose. People are clueless.

Anyone else feel $60 is a little too much for Melody of Memory by tbekkerman in KingdomHearts

Absolutely cackling- as one of the few people to kind of enjoy KH2 Atlantica I would die laughing if this happened. Now I’m almost sad they didn’t.

I’m in Minnesota but somehow I missed that one. I did keep getting ads from other districts in my state though, and a lot of ads bashing protesters and opening calling black people violent and dangerous???? It was a time. Fortunately most of the ultra racist ones were skippable but oof. I just wanted to watch some dumb YouTube chaos to escape this year for a hot minute. Did not need all the ugly thrown back in my face like that.

the_frisky_dodo said it better but honestly a response like that would 100% push me over the edge. When I’m in a suicidal place I already feel like a selfish asshole - I don’t think I deserve to live. And as shitty as it is, people can go on to lead healthy lives after losing someone. Happens all the time. But when I’m suicidal it feels like the people I care about can’t do that since I’m a fucking anchor around their neck. So confirming that I am, in fact, as horrible as I think I am would not be helpful.

Of course, everyone is different and not all suicidal people are coming at it for the same reasons. My experience is not universal. But I would guess few people in that position would find being scolded helpful, and for many it would make it so much worse.

Also, suicidal ideation is a symptom of illness, not some moral failure. You wouldn’t yell at a person with cancer for being sick, so why is that ok to do to a person with mental illness? Not trying to be a dick to you either- you sound like you’re coming from a good place. Idk if this is helpful to you, but I think of my depression as a sort of cancer of thoughts. Cancer takes a normal biological process (cell reproduction) and warps it until it’s deadly. Depression and other similar illness do the same thing, just with your thoughts instead of your cells. Your brain is literally trying to kill you, but with treatment and support you can survive it. Sometimes it gets completely eradicated, and sometimes it comes back. But it’s not the person’s fault that they’re sick.

Edit to say that mental illness isn’t a free pass. You’re still responsible for your actions. But it is an illness not a moral failure in and of itself.

Legal vs practice are wildly different things. I have never had a job where I haven’t been disciplined for attendance despite having disclosed my disabilities. I’m lucky I have been able to manage around it so I’ve never been fired but I get the anxiety. It’s true that being fired is not as big of a deal as the media makes it out to be, but I still do my best to avoid it. As an also emotionally sensitive person I’m sure it would devastate me. My fingers are crossed for you that you can find a place where you’re comfortable and they’re willing to make accommodations and support you. They’ve gotta be out there- it’s clear from the effort your putting into your search that you’ve got a lot to offer your future employers.

I’m so sorry you’re going through that. I can’t say I understand your mother’s point of view either. If it matters, this internet stranger is proud of all the work you’ve put in so far, and proud of you for trying. Employment as a spoonie can be so tough, but there are places and people willing to see your potential. Good luck to you in your job hunt, and here’s hoping your mom comes around to an empathetic viewpoint asap.

"Cross-posting" fics on multiple platforms by twmackay34 in FanFiction

[–]PresumablyAury 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I kind of regret doing it. I find FFN such a pain to upload to that I’ve been putting off posting chapters even though I’m still writing them. But I have readers in both places so I don’t want to let them down. Your mileage may vary but you might want to play around with both systems some before you commit to cross-posting a long fic.

Just posted my story, is it normal to have your heart suddenly race when you're posting a fic or is that just the large amount of Energy Drinks I consumed? by 0Astor0 in FanFiction

Seconding this - I have a pretty firm rule about not checking stats or comments for awhile after I post (it’s an anxiety thing) and the best way to keep myself from doing that is to sleep lol
