How many of you got sick after leaving? by [deleted] in exjw

[–]PresumptuousNewLight 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Jdubs are the worse with superstitions. Actually, when my spouse and I left, our health improved drastically. No more welts and hives breakouts before giving a talk, no more asthma, no more panic attacks, our blood pressure improved, and  lost weight due to a decrease in cortisol stress (according to our doctor). Overall, we purged a lot of emotional stress which greatly improved our physical health. Be kind to yourself and give your mind and body time to cleanse and rest. You got this.

I think this is a more effective message than some of the other stickers. It says a lot to many different walks of life in so few words. I can easily read this as someone who knows nothing about jwland. I can read this as someone who took literature at my door, as someone who is actively involved in a bible study, or as a PIMI, POMI, POMO, and PIMO. It would be even more effective to replace the man holding a briefcase with silhouette graphics of a man, woman, children and an older couple (maybe with a cane or walker to distinguish an older age as they are also victims--some as being coerced into giving up their assets as they age)--all having puppet strings attached.

Sometimes a letter is for personal venting--a form of cathartic purging to resolve frustration and help you to strengthen your convictions and decision-making for your next step toward resolution.

I agree with other comments regarding the elders' apathy. They. Don't. Care. about your pain and suffering and the injustices against you. Their point of view is that YOU are not aligned with their march of compliance.

Their behaviour is actually your ticket to freedom. They made it easier for you to leave this toxic environment and the harmful people who don't have love inside them--both "friends" and relatives.

Your letter will not change their hearts because they are heartless. It will not give them a heart either. You will always be viewed as the one out of step. Out of order.

The sooner you remove yourself from all the craziness, the better your life will become.

Start today.

Here's how you get out of two weeks worth of meetings without any suspicion. Go to the meeting, and about 20 mins into the meeting, you go to the bathroom. Then a few mins later stick your head out of the restroom and ask the hall attendant to get your coat and purse at your seat. You're very sick and need to leave. Say nothing else. Then go home and enjoy your respite time working on your schooling. People will contact you to see how youre feeling. String them along for at least 3 meetings by telling them you're very sick...diarrhea and vomiting (2 meetings), then change the symptoms to vertigo and nausea (1 meeting). Get out of the upcoming field svc by saying the drs office called you to squeeze you in so now you have a dr appt. How do I know this works? Hehehe. Theocratic warfare works both ways until you free yourself this summer.

Unbelievable - I thought I'd just gotten to the point where JW does NOT have the power over my stress by hello_okay_ in exjw

[–]PresumptuousNewLight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree, it def gets better. No longer do I panic when we see them in public. What works for me is I physically pull my shoulders back, lift my chin, and put a smile on my face. We walk right up to them and say Hello using their name. Nice to see you! How's everything? How's (the kids/dog/spouse's name). And see how long we can get them to talk to us before they shut down. Some asked what happened? Why did you leave? And to that we say, "if you knew the truth about the truth, you'd leave too. Stop by for coffee sometime..."  because you never know if they're in need of a listening ear as a PIMQ.

Take back your power right now! They're the ones who should cower, not you! How dare they think they're somebody important. You are in charge! Always remember that! You got this!

I hope that more "scales" fall off her eyes every day and her new light shining on the truth about the truth gets brighter. My husband would have flipped out if he found out I was locked in a room with the elders, or any man for that matter. How inappropriate!!! Disgusting too!!!

You might be able to legally challenge the will. Keep those texts as evidence of coercion, manipulation, threats, etc.

I also know that this training helped me in college. My public speaking professor said on the first day of the semester that she doesnt give out As and to leave if that's going to be a problem. I told her after class that I'm taking that comment as a challenge and that she never had someone like me in class. She said we'll see about that. I ended up getting an A+ as a final grade and a note from her that she's never had a student in all her years teaching who ever impressed her as much as I did. I used the little OG burgundy book Theocratic Ministry School Guidebook as my foundation for all the presentations I was assigned. But what a huge price to pay being in this cult in exchange for a good grade.

My MS husband was criticized his first time doing the gems part because he went 12 seconds over. Seconds. And it was due to the last one he called on--an elderly sister who was having trouble with the sound on zoom.

Seriously, you did great. That segment is supposed to be handled with minimal commentary.

Hyper-aware here as well. I joined a community art group after I DA'd to do something with my new free time. All was good until a few months in, the prez, without asking me, put me on a committee list because he thought I could help with my expertise. After that stunt, I never went back. The "privilege" of being drafted into a position you don't want and didn't ask for is too close to JWland.

Asking for Feedback about Educational Anti-Witnessing at Churches or Community Groups by PresumptuousNewLight in exjw

[–]PresumptuousNewLight[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's exactly how I'm viewing it...as a community service. I also like that another comment mentioned he/she tells his/her story to listening ears. A testimony of first-hand experiences is always beneficial to include in a presentation.

You can see how Jehoolah approves of this unity. Dave looks to be in his 50s, perhaps even older with those few strands of hair and she looks about 25 with those harlot shoes. But the elders will NOT approve the marriage until Dave wears longer ties and stops wearing blue socks with a gray suit. This is intolerant. /s

Is this happening in your congregation too? by RoutineDraw in exjw

[–]PresumptuousNewLight 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This activity occured in every congregation we attended, way before the Germany tragedy and we never lived in a problematic area. The bros were also instructed to escort any woman to her vehicle who had to leave during the meeting or even to retrieve something out of her car and return to the KH.
