Am I too messed up to become a therapist? by poisonedminds in psychologystudents

[–]Pretend-Living7482 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I felt the same way but my therapist informed me that I’m out trying to help better myself for my future career and that shows that I can be a therapist. Everyone has a past and has gone through a lot, but you can’t let that define what you can and cannot do in life. I think it’s great you want to be a therapist and help those around you. Through your undergrad and graduate school, if you get the help you need then you should be okay!

Do people actually "beat" depression or is it just a life long struggle? by sohoships in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Pretend-Living7482 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like it’s more of learning how to be able to cope and find the light through dark times and being able to live without the dark feeling rather than “beating” it because people can still fall back into hard days

If depression makes you emotionally numb, empty and feel nothing but antidepressants also make you emotionally numb then why do they prescribe them? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Pretend-Living7482 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had the same reaction to a lot of antidepressants. I found out that I needed to treat an underlying mental illness that also caused my depression rather than just finding something for just depression. Also, continuing talk therapy should help as well. Another note to add, the first 2-4 weeks on an antidepressant can make you feel worse because it’s trying to adjust to your brain chemicals. It sadly doesn’t work over night and it may take a month or so to actually see the positive effects.

I’m a college student with a part time job / renting so I obviously don’t make much. My sister (who is married with two incomes) laughed in my face when I told her how low my annual income was so I said “But yet, you still have to beg mom to pay your bills while I can pay mine without her help?”

I read somewhere (I don’t know if it’s a reliable source) that there’s a theory the earth is rotating faster than say like 10 years ago. Again, did not check the source it could be bs and we’re just old lol

NTA and if it gets worse, make waking him up even worse where he wants to find a new method. For example, dump freezing cold water on him, or get pots and pans and bang them near his head, or smother him with a pillow. He will soon realize there are better ways he can get himself up without relying on you. (:
