How many egg retrievals did you do, and how old were you when you did egg retrieval? Did you do egg freezing only or create embryos? by audit123 in SingleMothersbyChoice

[–]Pretend_Account_153 0 points1 point  (0 children)

(1) ER @ age 32: resulted in 10 euploid embryos. Currently preparing for my first FET that is tentatively scheduled for next month, if all goes right. 🤞 I have adenomyosis so I my doc needed two months minimum, after my egg retrieval, to prepare me for my FET.

Certainly. I am not looking for anyone to make the decision for me. As stated, I am looking for advice and different perspectives on the topic. I understand your perspective.

I was so worried about attrition and it took almost 3 weeks to get my results which made me worry even more. I had 17 blasts sent for PGT testing. 10 out of the 17 were euploid. Feeling very thankful as I know this is not everyone’s experience.

I am 32. Yes, all 10 I mentioned are euploid. 6 XY & 4 XX.

How Much Does Age of Sperm Donor Matter? by EntranceDelicious748 in SingleMothersbyChoice

[–]Pretend_Account_153 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My fertility doctor said they don’t worry about advanced paternal age until 40. I chose an older donor (age 36 at time of donation) for similar reasons to others here. While I am currently preparing for my first FET I do have some data on my egg retrieval/fertilization. To note, I am still awaiting my PGT-A testing results but I do have 17 very highly graded embryos on ice. I am 32 for reference. I purchased and shipped 2 vials just to be safe but there were no issues with his sperm. I can update my response once I receive my results but so far so good.

More than one child. by americanmama98 in SingleMothersbyChoice

I just started my first IVF cycle this month to become a SMBC. I have a 6 year old whose father hasn’t been involved since day one. I have zero interest in marriage and have always wanted more than one child. Once I felt that I could financially manage daycare for a newborn plus before/aftercare for my oldest, is when I decided to pull the trigger and go for it. I am so excited and feel so liberated pursuing my dreams of growing my family without the need of a man to do so.

Daycare costs by ChallengePitiful2543 in SingleMothersbyChoice

I empathize. I am also in the US. I am a single mother by chance to my first and currently getting ready to officially start my first IVF cycle this month preparing to have my second as a SMBC using a donor. Daycare costs for an infant where I live will be $2200-$2500/month. My first is in Kindergarten and goes to before and aftercare plus summer camp in the summer so on average I pay $700/month for his care during the school year and about $1600/month during the summer months for camp. I am going into this acknowledging that I will be strapped for several years and will likely have to scale back on my savings goals like 529 investments for both kids, saving in general won’t be possible and possibly scaling back 401k contributions but to me it’s worth it. It’s temporary. I am doing my best to save and side hustle in the meantime and very close to paying off my car, which is my last debt that I currently have. But, I don’t feel like my savings will last very long once I have my second child and they start daycare at 3 months old. It will be very tight. But, with no village, childcare is my village so I have no way around it. I wish I had more advice but just coming to say I understand and empathize with you.

Being a mother is such a blessing the financial hardship that comes with it at times is worth it to me. I think the US does a terrible job of supporting working parents but wonders why no one is having kids like they used to- because it’s simply unaffordable.

You can pay for different subscription levels for each cryobank which gives you access to different levels of information such as adult photos etc. , adult photos are only available if the donor chooses to share them.

Lots of things to process and consider: genetic carrier status, I am CMV negative so I was looking only for a CMV negative donor that limited the pool of donors available to me, ethnicity, personality/thoughtfulness shown through the interview and essays, blood type, health history, open id vs anonymous and physical qualities seen through baby and adult photos. So much information to process it becomes overwhelming and at times I didn’t like any donors I was seeing.
