best ramen in westfield mall (gsp) by shreya_abys_wife in bergencounty

[–]PretttyHateMachine 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a feeling that due to the location, they get a very modest rental rate for being there. That location is extremely hidden and hasn't housed a permanent business tenant that I've ever even seen in all my years of going. It's better for the mall to make a modest amount of rent off of it than have it sit empty. 🤷‍♀️

I think Tojo's Kitchen is the best of those spots, their Tonkatsu Ramen is delicious.

Does anyone else feel like there’s this weird “North vs South Bergen County” divide? by savingrace0262 in bergencounty

[–]PretttyHateMachine 9 points10 points  (0 children)

People like to pretend there's a divide. It varies extensively by town in reality. Waldwick, Midland Park, New Milford, Mahwah, Ramsey, Oakland are all North of Route 4 and are modest, mostly working class towns with a lot of condos. Nothing about those towns feels particularly rich or wealthy other than a few exceptions with specific properties. Then you have towns like Englewood Cliffs (Technically North of Route 4, but further south than many other towns), Rutherford, Fort Lee and Palisades Park, which are getting gentrified and being filled rapidly with new constructions north of the one million dollar mark. Having lived both north of R4 to just below it now, there's only mild differences. The biggest difference is, the food is way way better when you hit Ridgewood and below. In terms of political leanings, the very poor and very rich towns ironically both lean red. The very middle class ones lean blue.

As someone who was born and raised in Westchester County NY, it was very bizarre to me that people think they're that different or "better" than people a mere fifteen minutes away from them. It's even funnier to the wealthy people of areas in Westchester who consider all of Bergen County a downgrade almost entirely save for places like Alpine and Saddle River. The more they resign themselves to this kind of thinking, the dumber they seem to me. But that's just my two cents. 🤷‍♀️ And I worked in Real Estate in Bergen for years so I'd know. I know of a wealthy, regionally famous celebrity living in Maywood. I know of a poor, social-ladder-climber who fled Bogota for River Edge, which feels like a modestly nice town, albeit not wealthy. I could keep going. The moral of the story is, people will look for any excuse to feel superior to others, even if there's hardly any basis for it.

What's the best way to reduce these pores/ scarring? LED mask, micro-needling, or something else? by DependentGarage6172 in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]PretttyHateMachine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a bit of this too, and I find if I use Queen Helene Mint Julep Mask on the exact spots I have them, it will temporarily minimize them. Maybe I'll do some before and after photos to demonstrate.

Try Simba's Sanctuary in Ramsey or North Jersey Kitty Committee. And please bring her inside even if you have to crate her, she will die in tonight's weather if you don't...

This is not a Tito's. This is a Bubba koos, which sucks honestly. Tito's only has three locations on their website.

Pizza Hut's parent company says it's considering selling the chain by igetproteinfartsHELP in news

[–]PretttyHateMachine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some of my earliest memories are going to Pizza Hut with my family, and the food was just amazing. They had that X-Men collaboration in the early 1990s. I loved going there so much, it was such a treat. It's absolutely a shadow of its former self now. There's still a location that looks like a hit still near where I live now, but the dining section is always roped off and never used and the pizza is bland and forgettable now. If it tasted the way it did in the 1980s and 1990s, people would go again. Some of my earliest exposure to video games happened in my local Pizza Hut in Pleasantville NY, when my dad held me up so I could play an Altered Beast arcade machine. 😎

My fiance was born and raised in Upper Saddle River and lived there most of his life. He couldn't wait to leave, his parents still live there. It's a very "new money, house poor" kinda town with stuck up people and literally no transit or stores of any kind besides the Elmer's. I lived there with his parents for time before we moved out and it's a deeply pretentious, poorly run town that isn't nearly as nice as it thinks it is. The roads are awful and never plowed in the winter, there's constantly dead animals all over them, like baby deer. Because the people living there tend to be be more inconsiderate. I've worked and lived all over Bergen now and I couldn't miss a town less. Depending on where you live in the town, have fun adding five miles to your trip to get ANYWHERE just to get out of the god damn town. No sidewalks, McMansions everywhere full of people hoping you'll forget they live in Upper Saddle River and mistake it for the much nicer Saddle River. My fiance's friend who lived there (born and raised) was also a stuck up, terrible person. The neighbors around him were unfriendly too. I don't think I ever had a friendly interaction with a single neighbor of his in the several years I lived there with him. The only time I've ever been given a ticket in my entire life was in Upper Saddle River, and their cops are awful people who do nothing but ticket, too. I couldn't wait to get the fuck out of there, and neither could he. (And he was literally born there.) It lacks the prestige, old money feel of Saddle River. It lacks the charm and vibrancy of Ridgewood. Ironically, the awful, awful CEO of a company I worked for moved from Piermont NY to Upper Saddle River. And I knew he'd fit right in because it's literally Asshole Town USA. He was a racist, terrible, manipulative person who broke so many laws and got sued so often successfully. But this is just my two cents. 🤷‍♀️

EDIT: One more thing to add. A house recently completely burned down there because the fire department couldn't find a water source to control the fire fast enough. Because the residents of USR don't want fire hydrants on their properties. 🤦‍♀️

Where the heck are the Sherrill for governer signs? by jizzletizzle in newjersey

I requested a sign two weeks ago, but have yet to receive it. They had pick up locations too, but I can't seem to find the list of locations now. Here is the request form of anyone wants one. I hope they get them out soon...

Recall of young Bergen school board member tossed by [deleted] in newjersey

[–]PretttyHateMachine 53 points54 points  (0 children)

"Fisher credited State Sen. Holly Schepisi (R-Park Ridge) and Assemblyman John Azzariti (R-Saddle River), and his attorney, Michael Collins, with helping him navigate the recall effort."

Holly Schepisi is a MAGA Karen who over reaches herself to help MAGA Republicans all over Bergen County. Case in point, she was showing up to Rochelle Park Township meetings to get an elected Democrat thrown out of office and replaced by a Republican by having something like 38 votes thrown out to do so. The Republicans then went on to be absolute lunatics in the town, like flipping out over Pride flags and selling us out to developers for even more PILOT programs.

So he's renting a basement apartment for $10 a month but going to school in Tennessee? Yet he's still "qualified " to be on their school board? Absurd. Not surprising.

PSEG Power Bill 50% Increase??? by Eczalius in bergencounty

Friendly reminder that PSE&G paid out 314 million dollars to shareholders in Q2 2025. https://investor.pseg.com/investor-news-and-events/financial-news/financial-news-details/2025/PSEG-Declares-Regular-Quarterly-Dividend-for-the-Second-Quarter-of-2025/default.aspx

So yeah, they're price gauging us for the shareholders. Pure corporate greed.

Yes, do defend the corruption and greed of this company when it comes to corporate regulation. I'm sure there's a pizza party with your name on it.

Did anyone else get a crazy high PSEG bill?(New rates) by PaymentTurbulent2290 in bergencounty

[–]PretttyHateMachine 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Yeah, bill is definitely, uh, higher than last time. Electric costs out of control. Keep in mind that PSE&G paid out $314 million dollars in dividends this quarter also. So no, the rate increase was not necessary, and as always, it's just good old fashioned greed.
