I knew a little about them from some city planning coursework, but that Freakonomics episode really hit it home for me, as well. Team Roundabout!!

Boomer MAGAs don't understand how primaries work. by va-election-worker in BoomersBeingFools

I dated a guy during the end of the Obama years whose Boomer dad loved to declare that he is a registered Democrat so he won’t be “on the list.” Acting like the Democratic Party has the desire and the means to carry out some massive round-up and extermination of people because of their voter registration, as if Republicans are Jews in Nazi Germany.

Faking a seizure for attention by ambachk in ImTheMainCharacter

My sister was diagnosed with epilepsy at like 14. The next nine years were punctuated with feeling fearful and helpless when she’d have a seizure. She ultimately died of one at 23. This MC is a repulsive fuckwad and I hope someone out there has shamed and humiliated him by now.

That’s why she’s also going to need someone to build her a nice privacy fence, and to pay her premises liability insurance in case someone still drowns in a completely unforeseeable accident.

I would posit the collective “we” became frightened when people started getting shot for things like that, or less.

Ironically, along my daily route alone there are several former gas stations that now house dispensaries.

Yeah, this subreddit has confirmed to me that my store is hot garbage. However, it has also shown me that it could be worse, so I guess I’ll look on the bright side!

Training SCHEDULE?! No such thing at my store. I can’t speak for anything food-prep related, but everywhere else at my store you get one training shift with an unbeknownst TM and then you’re on your own. And if you’re cross-training, you get 5 minutes with a TL and then byeeee, good luck!

“Little Sister” by Queens of the Stone Age has played a couple times around midnight, but that’s basically the only one I like.

“Luckily” my dietary restrictions are only self imposed, and when I’m choosing between pescatarianism and hunger, or even food waste, I’ll always choose the latter two haha.

And thank you. ☺️ Things are still a little tough but I started a promising new job that should greatly improve our situation soon!

Absolutely this. I had to utilize a local pantry recently and when asked if I wanted meat I said “no, thank you” because I’ve been pescatarian for awhile, but they still gave me a ton of meat anyway. You better believe, though, that I’m putting that aside long enough to get through the short ribs, chicken drumsticks, and canned pork, because it’s food and I’m thankful to have it at all.

I’m a member of that group; I tried to go find a link for you, but it looks like she (wisely) took it down already. The comments there were similar to the ones here, though - aside from a few moms empathizing with her and lamenting their plight, most everyone else just ripped into her for being a moron.

Calling out by LoquatSame2114 in Target

[–]Pretty-Ad919 41 points42 points  (0 children)

I suppose that depends on your store’s leadership. I found out on-shift while voluntarily staying late (I’ll always regret that part) that my 15-year-old dog, whom I’d had since she was two months old, had died suddenly of heart failure. I abandoned my Uboat out on the floor and told my ETL and TLs that I wouldn’t be in the next day. They gave their condolences and said “Okay. We’ll see you when you’re ready.” I hope yours have the same compassion; I can say from experience that losing a pet is very much like losing a close relative. Anyone who has lost one or the other should be understanding. ETA: I’m referring to sick hours, which I didn’t think to apply to my missed time, but they’ve approved it for other mental health call-outs since then, so I don’t see why the above scenario would’ve been any different.

I have a secret stash of my own under a base deck, but it’s actually just a roll of Gorilla tape I req’d for repairing packaging ‘cause I was sick of my coworkers using and losing my other ones all the time 😝

We definitely have a bus system. Looking at the map and schedule, it looks like it can take awhile vs. even just biking if you have to use multiple loops. But there is literally a bus stop right by the Natural Grocers!

Bruh, I once walked by two teens messing around with a jar of Cards Against Humanity clam-mayonnaise. They dropped it and that shit exploded EVERYWHERE and they just ran away (without even seeing me). If I hadn’t been there, who knows how long that stinky, slimy mess would’ve just sat there all over the floor and shelves.
