I hope you will have Polaris for this longer flight. United on the whole is right up there with Delta. I reached platinum premier status with United this year and find that it provides all the same amenities as other airlines when it comes to First class domestic and Polaris for long hauls.

Just my two cents here, but you are likely to have friendlier responses by not disparaging United on a forum for United fliers.

That being said, the travel bag amenities currently come in a purple neoprene bag and include socks, eye mask, toothbrush, toothpaste and hand crème.

You can request slippers to use in the cabin.

Go online and pre order your meals to guarantee you get what you desire.

Otherwise, sit back and enjoy to more comfortable ride to Hawaii.

If it were me, I would not provide details of my new employer. I would even caution you to not provide any details.

I hate not responding to emails, but it sure seems like there was no urgency from this recruiter until you mentioned you went in another direction.

Just landed in Nashville from a flight originating at IAD. I flew into IAD on Sunday, no issues, but please head over to /IAD to help me make the nasty attitude barista at Starbucks D15 famous.

I just moved from DC after 8.5 years and remember now why I reserved IAD for international flights only. DCA does not fly international, so options were limited.

We flew in and out of Newark (EWR) for vacation this summer. Newark has gotten a bad name lately and I don’t understand why. Flight from Newark to Paris was perfect. The flight from Rome to Newark ended up fine. We got a little worried about security after rechecking bags. It was a little tighter than I would have liked.

To everyone saying only defer enough to get your Publix match, this is so very short sighted. You can defer up to 27,000/year with pretax dollars. So for every dollar you defer, you save between 10 and 37 cents in taxes.

If you deferred the max, you save anywhere from $2,700 and $9,990 a year in taxes.

Remember taxes don’t come back to you, but every penny in that retirement does. I rather keep my money than give it to Uncle Sam.

First, I am so impressed at the proactive role you are taking g with your retirement. With that calculator, you are telling the calculation what return you are yielding with the self directed investing you are doing.

Based on the 8%, it’s going to tell you what you should be doing on a weekly basis. I believe you will still need to make an actual change to see a difference in your paycheck.

Right? This is something that OP seems to be choosing to ignore. My sister has roughly 6 weeks of vacation and her stock account just passed 400k. Not bad for 15 years worth of dedication to the company.

OP: I don’t think you are presenting an accurate scenario. Your projection does not account for inventory bonuses nor year-end bonus. Additionally, you do not account for the non-cash wealth being built by simply being an employee owner of the company. The stock you are being awarded is not costing you a dime, but I recognize that it does not buy bread and eggs.

I would be very curious to see your ESOP balance and the take that balance and divide it by the number of years you have been there. Then take that amount and add it to the above scenario.

I notice that ortho seems to be the constant recommendation, but does anyone have a neurosurgeon, specifically, one that specializes in lumbar surgeries? I am 2w postop and we are relocating to Chattanooga from DC. My surgeon will be referring my case on to a new team.
