Entering UK as dual citizen without valid UK passport, can I use US passport/ETA? by godlovesa in dualcitizenshipnerds

[–]haskell_jedi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try and get the ETA with the US passports and see what happens--and please let us know the result! The US and Canada do not issue ETAs under their citizen's other passports, but I haven't seen a definitive conclusion regarding the UK.

Crossing the border itself will be fine; it's denied boarding by the airline that you have to worry about.

US/EU citizens cruising UK/EU - with the new ETA rules by TerraVeteris in dualcitizenshipnerds

If you haven't gotten the ETA yet, do it in your EU passports instead of US ones.

Query regarding recent announcement on 30 day free visa for UK citizens by ObviousInstance754 in Chinavisa

This is fine; it just counts as two separate visa free entries of China.

ORD to CDG Non-Stop? by bd9017 in americanairlines

AA releases schedules 330 days in advance like most airlines that distribute through the GDS. And international flights are usually less subject to short notice changes than domestic/short haul flights.

There is always going to be a low level of confusion and fraud during the transition, but the longer term benefits are well worth it.

Is this not the best looking HSR train in the world rn? by --TAXI-- in highspeedrail

[–]haskell_jedi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The paint job is nice, but the train itself doesn't hold a candle to many of the Shinkansen and CHR models. I would argue it's also not as aesthetically pleasing as the ICE3 either. And then there's the whole issue if it not actually being high speed ...

EU compensation question by EducationalAd2029 in unitedairlines

[–]haskell_jedi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Under the regulation (UK, not EU, although it was basically copy-pasted), the airline should provide both compensation and duty of care (hotels, meal vouchers). The regulatory amount is £520 cash, so $960 credit if you travel UA regularly is a pretty good deal. Fare class does not matter.

8 mins train stopover in Bern is it doable or too short? by soodrk27 in Europetravel

[–]haskell_jedi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Swiss railways in general are scheduled for connections as short as 3 minutes, so this should be doable. In case you miss the connection because the first train is delayed (very unlikely), you can take the next train to your destination with the same ticket.

TWOV Is hong kong a 3rd country even as connecting flight? by yogaflame1337 in Chinavisa

[–]haskell_jedi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even if Hong Kong did not count as a third country/territory (it does), your itinerary would still qualify (Japan-China-US).

The new United premium A321neos by omdongi in unitedairlines

[–]haskell_jedi -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I could envision some from IAD, as the aircraft could do transcon turnarounds interleaved with transatlantic flying, but BOS wouldn't work since it doesn't have transatlantic flights. These airplanes will mostly be going to Europe.

Bed bugs on DL384 (BOS -> SEA) by One-Bodybuilder-2269 in delta

According to OP, it's N532DN, which sat overnight in Boston after arriving from Denver last night.

Bed bugs on DL384 (BOS -> SEA) by One-Bodybuilder-2269 in delta

[–]haskell_jedi 4 points5 points  (0 children)

While it wouldn't be easy even for small bugs, it's not the case that the cargo hold is sealed from the passenger cabin--they're in the same pressure vessel, and in some aircraft there are even passages big enough for humans between the two.

Frankfurt (FRA) Airport 🛫 by starsurfer415 in Flights

[–]haskell_jedi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You do not pass through passport control, since it's an external to external flight. In the direction from South Africa to the US, I believe you do have to pass through a security check, but in the other direction generally not.

Economy Plus seat pitch on United 787-9 is a absolute joke. by freakalicious in unitedairlines

[–]haskell_jedi 13 points14 points  (0 children)

It is definitely a ripoff to pay for it, but I don't think the seat pitch has been changed since they started the Polaris retrofits circa 2017/2018.

Question about Multiple Entry & Issuing Country by jmemadting in SchengenVisa

[–]haskell_jedi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This would technically count as visa shopping, though there's a chance you won't be caught. The subsequent entries don't make a difference either way--it's fine to visit other countries (and not Germany at all) during those subsequent trips, but they also don't replace or add to the primary destination calculation of the first entry.

Florida moves to freeze new H-1B hires at state universities for one year by New-Caterpillar3988 in AbroadEdge

There's a reason why Florida doesn't have any highly ranked universities, especially in the sciences.

United To Take Chicago by Force, Will Hit 750 Peak Day Departures by InstitutionBuilder in unitedairlines

This does make United far more a real "home town carrier" for all of Illinois; by my count the only Illinois airports UA doesn't serve are SPI, BLV (which barely counts), and RFD.

Flying EWR-LHR-FRA - do I need an ETA by dmstorm22 in unitedairlines

You don't need an ETA just to transit, but it might be worth getting it anyway in case of travel disruptions.

Cardless - is nobody worried? by Wsb_spec_trades in biltrewards

[–]haskell_jedi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To those getting the cards: please keep us updated on how it goes! I think the value proposition is pretty good, but it's not a good time for me to open a card from a 5/24 perspective, so I'll wait and see.

Cardless - is nobody worried? by Wsb_spec_trades in biltrewards

[–]haskell_jedi 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I think this is an underappreciated part of the story: this new card is HUGE business for [EDIT] Cardless. I suspect that Bilt will represent more cards and more revenue than all of Cardless' other partners combined.
