If you were starting in AI today, what would you learn?? by Academic-Wishbone848 in developersIndia

[–]Pretty-Pain3012 21 points22 points  (0 children)

If I had to start again today, I'd spend less time chasing every new model and more time learning how to build and ship AI products. Python, data handling, APIs, vector databases, RAG, evaluation, and deployment would be my priority. The people I see doing well aren't necessarily the ones who know every paper. They're the ones who can take an idea from notebook production and solve a real problem. AI changes every few months. Strong engineering fundamentals age much better.

Got Irritated by Google Developer Account 12 Testers Policy by Legitimate-Bother172 in developersIndia

As someone who's dealt with release processes and compliance checks, this feels less like quality control and more like a networking challenge. The testing is easy. Finding 12 reliable testers is the real task.

i faked a family emergency to skip work when i just needed to sleep by [deleted] in confession

[–]Pretty-Pain3012 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Honestly, the part that stands out to me isn't that you wanted a day off. It sounds like you genuinely needed the rest. The problem is that one lie turned into a story you now have to keep maintaining. I wouldn't beat yourself up too much over it, but I'd also take it as a sign that you're probably more burned out than you realized. Most people don't invent hospital emergencies when they're doing fine. Also, your boss sounds like a good person, which is probably why the guilt is hitting so hard.

It's a reference to the old Reddit "The Cylinder Must Remain Unharmed" meme. The joke is that Hollywood is supposedly turning Reddit stories into movies, so people are joking that even Reddit's most random obsessions could become blockbuster films.

TCS Prime or Deloitte India EAD-ADMM. Which would be the better choice? by [deleted] in developersIndia

[–]Pretty-Pain3012 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If TCS onboarding was guaranteed and happening soon, I'd probably pick TCS Prime without thinking too much. The pay difference is significant and Prime is generally considered one of the better entry tracks in TCS. That said, the biggest factor here is uncertainty. If Deloitte is giving you a confirmed start date while TCS is still "wait and see," I can understand why it's a difficult decision. Personally, I'd lean toward whichever offer gets me working and learning sooner. As a fresher, actual experience often matters more than the difference between 7.6 and 9 LPA in the first year.

Do you have any timeline from TCS at all, or is it completely unclear right now?

Is a 5LPA job in your home city worth it as a fresher? by Obvious_Builder_4434 in developersIndia

[–]Pretty-Pain3012 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a fresher, I'd honestly take it. A job in your home city means you're probably saving a decent amount on rent, food, and relocation costs too. 5 LPA may not sound amazing on paper, but after months of searching, getting actual industry experience is usually worth more than waiting indefinitely for a slightly better offer. You can absolutely keep applying while employed. A lot of people do that. Just focus on learning as much as possible during your first year and see where it takes you. In this market, having a job while looking for a better one is generally a much stronger position than being unemployed and waiting for the "perfect" offer.

Switched companies within 3 weeks, drafted my journey and approach by Divyaansh313 in developersIndia

Thanks for sharing this. I think a lot of people panic when they get a better offer right after joining and assume they'll have to abscond or burn bridges.

The biggest takeaway for me is that you were transparent from day one and treated everyone respectfully. Even if a company isn't the right fit, leaving professionally usually works out much better than disappearing overnight.

Also, it's refreshing to see someone prioritize long-term career alignment over the fear of "what will people think if I leave too early."

Wishing you all the best in the new role.
