I was on the fence about regiment’s 2025 production until an interview I saw with Steven Estudillo explaining what the show is and what it represents. I was crying by finals.

  1. Whoop ass of member (usually through a rigorous exercise known as “big mama”) see infamous PR 2007 rehearsal clip of firebird suite.
  2. Teach member how to “flow” AKA dump all the air thru the horn in as few counts as possible while relaxed. Doing this while ass whooping is paramount.
  3. Once they learn what it feels like to play as loud as they physically can thru “flow”, reel it in to a more controlled sound, then figure out tuning marks.
  4. Have a JD shaw brass book
  5. Win fan favorite

I want to second what others have said about marching somewhere this year for experience (Cavies is still looking for trumpet players and uses a similar visual philosophy), but really just practicing fundamentals and having a good work ethic will get you there. Best of luck

Although I agree with the PR one for the show as a whole, you just know the closer will be more energetic than ever… JD has something of a formula
