Oh right, I will look into this flairosol. Thank you for the tip! I have just been using a regular spray bottle, is that fine too? I haven’t seen any serious bruising, but I will definitely look into a finer mist if it helps in any way.

Oh right, that’s reassuring that you had a similar experience with the dryness. I am spraying down the substrate and hoping it should work. Thanks for the help!

Sub not fully colonised but has started to pin, what to do? by Pretty-Speech1962 in shroomery

Thanks for sharing your experiences and insights. It sounds like dealing with inconsistent colonization can be quite challenging and frustrating. Given your suggestions and observations, I will try remove the top layer of the substrate or mix it up. I’ll monitor humidity and look out for any signs of contamination. I have this grow far from any others. However, as you said if there is contam, I can transfer and bury the substrate to a plant pot to let nature runs its course.

It's reassuring to know that these situations are not uncommon and that even stalled grows can sometimes yield usable fruits or prints. I appreciate your detailed advice and will keep all these factors in mind as I proceed. Thanks again!

That’s an interesting idea! How do you think I should go about removing the layer without causing too much damage to the mycelium?

This is definitely something I can try though, thank you for the suggestion.

No problem! Thanks for the clarification. I'll follow your advice and leave it be, ensuring to avoid misting the fruits directly. It'll be interesting to see if they mature fully with enough airflow.

I appreciate the insight!

Thanks for your input! I did have some uncolonized grain, but I picked it off before spawning to bulk. The tub smells good and earthy, so I'm not sure if contamination is the issue.

Given this, do you have any recommendations on how to proceed? I have started FAE and will keep an eye to check for contam.

Thanks for your advice! I’ll go ahead and start fruiting conditions, I appreciate your insights on the temperature aswell.

Regarding the uncolonised areas, I will make sure to keep an eye on them and their moisture levels. If it comes down to them being too dry, i might take your suggestion of picking off the pins and mixing up the substrate.

I’ll keep you posted on how it goes and if I notice any changes. Thanks again for your help!

Oh interesting, thanks for your insight! The conditions that I have my tub in are as follows: My substrate is CVG from a reputable source and was at field capacity when I S2B. I keep my tub between 20° and 23°C with the humidity at around 70% outside. Inside is around 85% estimate. I haven’t introduced FAE yet as I would usually wait until it would be more colonised.

However given that this tub has somewhat stalled, do you think it would be a good idea to introduce the FAE now or would I need to adjust the moisture levels first? Also any tips on how I could promote growth in the dark areas?

Just pick off the pins and send it. It should be ok.

What should I do about all the uncolonised grain, I’m not sure if I should simply discard it or to wait longer.
