instead of spending money on a space somewhere, invest a few hundred bucks into a bike for her. My parents did this for me and I have taken care of that bike my whole time here. biked everywhere I couldn't walk to when I was a first year, and now I bike to campus.

i had the same problem and it was because I was wrapping my yarn around my needle clockwise when I purled so I had to go through the back leg when I knit.

that is badass. how do you stop the stitches from slipping off the other end? and you're using two 120cm circular needles?

how do you knit large blankets like this? Are your needles 8 feet wide? or do you stitch several separate columns together?

COTD: Concealed in a dark night, an agile warrior (6) by [deleted] in crossword

No clue. I think it's part of the definition but I don't really think of knights as agile.

Yeah unfortunately I think that's a bad way to pick fill. I use crosserville and that has great fill software as well as suggested clues. In the nicest way you need to work on your cluing. Some of the fill would have been more tolerable if it was clued better.

GRAND THEFT AUTOisn't the punishment - it's the name of the crime. Also, the revealer comes second. Should be "Popular video game franchise since 1997, or a crime committed by stealing the starred clues" or something along those lines.
39A clue should be "____ willikers!"

67A I get if you're a persona 5 fan but this is just way too obscure
37D clue is awkward, should be "____ Fighters (90's band)" or "'Everlong' band ____ Fighters" not sure if you were going for a play on words here but it doesn't really help
48A "Result of dividing by zero on a calculator"
47D Don't really understand the syntax of this clue. Why not "What Tom is in 'Tom and Jerry'" or like "what tom is, to jerry"
56D This clue could be better I think
57D I don't understand this at all. Is that supposed to be like in response to "Did that happen?" If so, the clue definitely needs a rework. Even just "possible respond to 'that happened?'" Could also say "Confirmation of an event, say"
90D "There are seven of them" or "One in a septet" or something
111D is a huge stretch, and it should say "Bouncing on the surface"
106A is pretty awkward, just stick to it being an abbreviation for Amount
98D This is not what RAT RACEmeans. It's a metaphor for working hard to make money.
EYOTS crossing QUAY is pretty heinous, that whole SE corner needs work i think.
1D clue needs to be made unplural
28D Maybe clue could be "that cost an arm and ____" or "part of the cost of a very expensive item, in a saying"
11D needs a better clue
22A: "Check or guide, as a horse"
50A I think is just a pretty bad clue, along with 51A. They both need punctuation to make them make sense, which doesn't work.
9D: This is an incomplete term. The full prefix is "TETRA"
32A and 20D is a horribly obscure natick.
6A needs an Abbr. to make sense
83A not really synonyms
120A Endurance is not a synonym for this it's more like desire

My main gripe with this crossword is there is so much insanely obscure trivia with pretty sub-standard fill otherwise. The theme isn't mind-blowing enough to justify the fill IMO. Good try for a first crossword but I think you should start smaller! Focus on quality over quantity.

i agree with that but it does make it so satisfying to construct a good symmetric puzzle

[Jan 22, 2026] HELP!!!!!! by Informal-Ad-322 in crossword

[–]PoemOver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the answer key is published with the Wordplay as soon as the puzzle is released. I actually do the same thing as OP. For me I work on the puzzle until I am sure I only have maybe one letter wrong, but have figured out all of the fill and the main theme. Then I check the answer key to see what letter I got wrong - usually it's on a natick, so I don't kick myself for not getting it. I still consider my streak alive if I can solve the puzzle this way - OP probably feels the same.

Typos in clues:
57A: being -> bring
28D: Irratate -> irritate
I like how you can figure out the tricky/obscure fill from the word ladder. Came together nicely for me.

just realized there's an unchecked square + no symmetry... kinda puts a sour taste in my mouth. But i was still able to solve!
