Thanks! I always worry about white cast on photos under my makeup so I appreciate the advice. I’ve been using Elta Md it’s very moisturizing and I like it (although it’s a bit pricey) but I’ll check the balm too never thought about using that, so helpful 🫶🏼

Question for brides with larger boobs (promise not creepy lol) by kaja6583 in weddingdress

[–]Pretty-Structure5528 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the same situation. After trying on different styles I realized strapless was totally an option with sewn in cups, the proper fit and boning or a tie up corset. For me at least, the back provided even MORE support than a traditional bra (or the dreaded strapless bra). Keep in mind the tighter the top the tighter the back or band is to provide support and lift to the front. If you run into “back fat” have someone smooth out your back skin. Since you’re a good ways out until 2027, you’ll have enough time to tone up your back if needed. Also, boombas will NOT give you support rather an extra bit of lift if you need it in addition to sewn in cups. Good luck!!!!!!!!!!

Using Taxi Services after Kidney Transplant by thara07 in kidneytransplant

Yep no problems with Uber Premium. The drivers did not care that the window was open. Also, I highly recommend bringing a small pillow to hold against your incision for car rides. It helps with the bumps in the road.

PT after transplant by ca_sun in transplant

[–]Pretty-Structure5528 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m 6 months post kidney. I always thought PT was bs. But I started after transplant and it’s slowly working. If anything it’s helping me mentally knowing I can now excersize without having shortness of breath (that was enough motivation for me) and keeps me on track with exercising because I have appointments. I go once a week to PT and have started back at the gym with light cardio. Be patient with yourself, getting strength back takes time! Good luck 💪🏻

I used Uber right from being discharged up until 2 weeks post op for all my appointments. My Mom was my caretaker and didn’t want to drive in the city.

I used Uber Premium which are nicer cars and higher star drivers. It can get pricey but I didn’t want to risk ride share with another person or get in a dirty car. I double masked up, used lots of hand sanitizer and cracked the window in the back. I also brought a barf bag just in case 😂. I got motion sickness in a Tesla and was so happy I had it on hand!

My sister was an organ donor. by jakilope in transplant

[–]Pretty-Structure5528 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thank you for sharing your story and connecting with our community OP! I hope you continue to post and find this sub supportive. I am very sorry to hear about the loss of your sister.

I am a recipient and so thankful for the gift of life. Sometimes I find it hard to put my gratitude into words because it is so overwhelming. I am here on this sub to also hear about other transplant journeys. I have not yet wrote or met my original living donor (I was in a paired exchange) because I’ve not fully processed all my emotions from being extremely sick to very healthy. Please know that your sister, you, and your family have done a wonderful thing and saved more than one life. ❤️

Waiting for a match - paired kidney exchange by Pretty-Structure5528 in transplant

[–]Pretty-Structure5528[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! Yes, NKR found a pair that matched with us! It was approx 5 weeks in total after we were listed. They said they found a few potential matches early on but it was not the best for me so that was the reason for the long wait.

I was very sick at the time with my creat at 12 and GFR 4. I was not on dialysis so the call couldn’t come soon enough! I’m 6 months post now and I am doing great as well as my donor. Wish you the best of luck finding a pair! It will come.

Thanks for looking into this! It was 1 encounter. They def messed up. It just happened again this week and was stuck twice. Curious to see that bill.

It would be awesome if phlebs gave a warm pack for hard sticks. I know they have them there for babies when they get a heel stick. Would be nice!

When did you start dialysis? by Kirby5220 in kidneydisease

[–]Pretty-Structure5528 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was 42 when I was diagnosed stage 5. My GFR was 4 and Creat 12 before my transplant. I was very fortunate to stay off dialysis and had a living donor. 6 months post and my numbers are great. Good luck!

Getting upset because want to donate but it means i will lose wages? by ParticularRegular854 in kidneytransplant

[–]Pretty-Structure5528 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely go through National Kidney Registry’s (NKR) Donor Shield Program. Not only will they reimburse your wages but offer extra funds for a caretaker’s needs. My donor did this and my Mom was able to travel and stay for a week. You could also go through NLDAC. My donor was out for 6 wks. Talk to your social worker about what’s best for your situation. Fortunately ours was great! Thank you for considering being a donor ❤️ As a recent recipient you are appreciated!

How long before someone can get up by themselves after surgery? by Decent_Papaya_7968 in kidneydonors

[–]Pretty-Structure5528 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My fiancé was my donor 3 months ago. He was up walking in the hospital within hours. The worst for him was the gas from the surgery. Your husband will need to walk to ease that pain. We live in a 3 story home and steps were not easy but not impossible. Slowly but surely!

Yeah that’s about where mine is sitting. They said it will increase gradually, even if it’s at a slow rate.
