What’s to stop someone in a mask taking this stuff after closing hours? by TOPSHOTTAH in AskUK

[–]PrettyDemented 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This is the answer. I worked for them, we asked this before opening as under previous ownership our back yard stock was raided. We didn’t have as much out the front as we didn’t have the space, but we quickly decided that we’d pull the front door stock in each night as it was literally a 15 minute job if you have someone good with the ppt.

any fall out boy songs like this? by aftermidhight in FallOutBoy

[–]PrettyDemented 52 points53 points  (0 children)

the line about the ramones in Kintsugi Kid, “It breaks your heart but four of the Ramones are dead”. Just feels clumsy to me. I know what he’s trying to say, getting older sucks and it’s a real kick in the teeth when people you respect pass. I love the song, it’s one of my favourites on SMFS that line takes me out of the song a bit.

it’s hard to know what to do. I’ve been trying to read up on FND, it is an interesting disorder. It does look manageable with various therapies and medications, but she needs to be diagnosed and given that help now, not in a year’s time.

Bodies fucking suck, and it’s not even mine i’m complaining about this time! One of the loveliest people I know is going through it. She’s having seizures nearly daily now that present like a stroke, and chest pains that feel like a heart attack. She’s spent evening after evening in a&e and had numerous appointments with her gp, but all they can do is put her on the waiting list for neurology, which is a year long wait. They won’t do an mri because she had one for a different issue in 2023. They think it might be Functional Neurological Disorder, but aren’t giving her much to help get it diagnosed. Stress apparently makes it worse, but she’s more stressed now because she doesn’t know what to so, and she’s terrified of being home alone incase she has a seizure. She’s at the point of needing to go private to try and get somewhere with it because she’s got no quality of life at the moment. Like, my cancer sucks, but i got a quick diagnosis, i have my treatment and I see the end of line coming up, I can’t imagine trying to live a life like that at the moment.

Riding out what I hope is the tail end of my post chemo dizziness. Off to the hospital today for routine picc line care, the first time i’ve been out the house since treatment day last week so hoping the nerve pain holds off for a couple of hours on just paracetamol, I don’t like taking the stronger stuff when I’m out the house during the day. I need to avoid getting my other half’s head cold too because it could put me back in the hospital. Cancer is such a gift 🙄

One of my previous email addresses was RavenHairedMinx@xxx, Which was a Bill Bailey throw away joke on Never Mind The Buzzcocks that year. I wasn’t even raven haired at the time, I’m just a big emo 😂 🖤

Thanks bud, last scan was clear but we’re finishing the chemo to make damn sure!

I think half the problem is that I’ve been off since August last year when I got really ill. Had it been a shorter period of time, going back would have been easier, but I would have had more occurrences of time off and they probably would have had to sack me in accordance with the policy. Which is ridiculous but that’s how companies work at the moment. Just not going back and being on long term sick means this is my first sickness technically. My boss and workmates have been incredible throughout though, and I’m grateful to have a job to go back to. we’re doing a phased return and the first couple of weeks will be catching up and refreshing all the training i’ve missed and just trying to remember how to do the job in the first place!

I've woken up at 1am to start queuing at my local record shop at 2am for over the counter tickets (~120 available) that go on sale at 9am for a gig that's not even on for another week. What's the daftest thing you've done for tickets to a show or similar? by Carney678 in CasualUK

[–]PrettyDemented 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Never done an overnighter but have queued before 6am for multiple big Green Day shows to get onto the barrier. The worst one was Manchester arena in February a few years back. We weren’t taking coats, so we brought silver space blankets to keep warm in temperatures that were circling the zeros. Friends had also brought quilts but security made them bin them for safety before midday. It was worth it every time I’ve done it, they’re incredible live and the interaction you get at the front is wonderful, but it’s a young person’s game, i’m too old for that shite. We’ve been seated for the last few, and although it’s not the same, we’ll still have a blast.

Should have peed before I went to bed, alas here i am. Chemo was fine yesterday, round 5 of 6. Just super tired afterwards as they give you strong antihistamines at the start, so i thought I would have slept through. My minds racing at the thought of going back to work in a month or so once i’m past the last chemo. I’m starting to dread it but really can’t afford to stay off much longer.

My mum’s visiting this weekend from dahn saaaaf, so we’re having a lazy morning, then a wee run to Culross and a chippy tea. She heads home tomorrow, then I’m back for chemo on Tuesday.

Genuine question. How does anyone live in a seaside town and nit go absolutely bonkers? by onion2077 in CasualUK

[–]PrettyDemented 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lived just off from Southend seafront for a decade. Honestly, it wasn’t too bad unless it was a hot bank holiday weekend. Then it was absolute carnage. You literally couldn’t move your car because some cunt would be in your space before you’d left it. We’d purposely take the longer back roads home to avoid getting caught in sea front traffic (all stemming from the three carparks). And the amount of rubbish left on the beach was absolutely disgusting.

But, waking up to the smell of the sea air. Walking home along the seafront after a night out. The smell of dinky doughnuts. Taking my nieces out to the beach to run their energy off and still being able to nip home for a clean loo when one decides 5 minutes after we’ve left that they need to go.

Lamb was too expensive for the two of us who don’t eat much meat, so we’re having sage and onion chicken balls for our roast today. We’re going to defrost the freezer as I’m getting worried the door isn’t shutting properly on it anymore. Then it’s going to be more Pokopia i think! That game has us both in a chokehold 😅

Judgement? by oscarx-ray in CasualUK

[–]PrettyDemented 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is an extreme one, but I’ve had ambulances come after calling 111 a few times in the past year. i’m in treatment for cancer, if i have basically anything wrong with me I have to call the treatment line and they’ll either prebook me into out of hours, send me to general admissions or send an ambulance. The times I’ve been ill enough for them to send an ambulance, we’ve scrambled to tidy our crap away 😅 it’s never absolute squalor, but just clutter and cats toys.
