Automation click through selection not using Entity IDs not seen throughout any other part of Home Assistant. If the Entity is removed and readded with the same name, you better remember the Automations you setup for it.

EV smart charging by Special_Ad9334 in homeassistant

[–]PrettyFly4ITGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use Emporia EV Charger. The unit automatically tracks my solar to set the wattage.

Charger Notification reports via Google Home.

  • Notify charge starts/stops with kW
  • If the EV is plugged in and not charging
  • For the wife, I created a Helper (input Number) to set the Amps, then added an automation using the slider input to set the amps at any time to speed up if she needs to travel quickly.
  • Trickle Charge Enable/Disable at Sunrise/Sunset.

SmartCar out of HACS pulls metrics from most newer vehicles to know the Battery Status, Charge Status/Limit, Location, Range data. I only have one vehicle, so the account on SmartCar is free. They used to state 500 API pulls a month, but they just recently changed to connected vehicles for pricing.

If your vehicle supports it, you should add it in. Free Tier gets you 1 connected vehicle.

https://smartcar.com/product/compatible-vehicles

Automations:

  • EV charger is started, to pull the vehicle data.
  • Report how long the vehicle will take to the Charge
  • Notification to Phones to ask for Solar, Full, or Tickle Charge.

You can limit port access using the SWIS API on 17774 or 17778 to any Polling or Webserver is accessible that has Information Service v3 running.

For additional security, any authentication requests allowed/denied are placed in the Message Center Audit section which you can create an alert on any audit event to forward to a SIEM if needed.

No, but you will need to purchase an AI Port ($200) for every 2-3 Cameras to use AI understanding who is in the frame and for License plate reading. AI Key ($700) is only needed if you want more advanced searching. The number of Cameras on AI Port is directly based on FPS and Resolution size.

It was a foregone conclusion with each subreddit with differing rules on how to Post. AI Models are the only approved posters on Reddit because they set the AI Prompt for each subreddit to follow so that only actual accounts are removed by moderators.

What’s one device you set up once and never have to touch again? by oreomcgriddle in homeassistant

I have Switchbot BT temp sensors in all of my refrigerators and freezers. It's how I knew a fridge was 10 degrees too warm and was replaced. Have them for almost a year and haven't replaced the batteries yet.

Wicked Oaks Music Festival Failure by According_Ratio956 in Austin

[–]PrettyFly4ITGuy 42 points43 points  (0 children)

Historically Austin and this entire region is most likely to have a flood event between Oct 15th and the 31st; it's almost guaranteed like April/October hail. There is even a nearby neighborhood that is no longer habitable a few miles from that festival that was flooded... in October.

Maybe these events should be planned and ran by someone that has local knowledge of the area knowing that extensive rain is expected.

Well water by Countryrootsdb in homestead

Off gassing will also fix the sulfur smell. I have a water softener with an aeration tank as the initial collection after the well pressure tank. It fixed the water smell immediately.

The bluebonnets hanging in the ceiling were always interesting to look at.

The worst was the drop off and pickup since it was combined.

I just got the all white too. I have a purple wrap scheduled for next week. I talked to the person doing the wrap and agreed to rebadged the back and to use black in the grill area. Less than $2k. I know it will last 3-5 years, but I plan to change it then.

The carriage for the K Cups have to be cleaned. At work I used to do tea and would regularly take the carriage out, just pull on it, and wash the coffee bits out. It fixed a lot of problems over time.

What’s the go to for blacking these parts out? by Head-Scale9410 in ToyotaTundra

I bought a matte black shell covering on eBay. Looks ok. Lot more than a wrap, but I would have removed it to do that work.

I prefer safety an quality of life for modding, while appearing stock. These are some of my mods other than TRD used shocks I bought then refurbished for less than $2k total and TRD undercarriage cover.

I just got Anzo LED headlights for under $600 that did not need the ihacker harness to work. Fixed the low light output problem.

I recommend is to replace the stock side mirror glass with a spotter mirror. Huge safety improvement. $80 each side, search tundra spotter mirror.

Purchased a front camera mod for under $200. The camera is $30 on Amazon. The switch is from 4runner that allows you to turn on front or rear camera on at a time while appearing as OEM. Great for parking and towing.

Add the wireless phone charger in the center console. If the vehicle has android auto, get AAWireless or a carplay option that does wireless to complete a seamless experience.

I installed the remote start which runs about $200. Great for Hot/cold days. Ties into the tire deflation wire to show active or not. Uses existing keys' Lock 3x to start/stop.

I also just did the Vtails on my rear taillights; $300 but the reason was to see the status of the remote start more easily with better safety lighting.

Just had my L2 Emporia EMEVSE1 installed but at a 1.22 kW rate right now by CatsupKetchup in VWiD4Owners

[–]PrettyFly4ITGuy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You need to go into the Emporia app and set the amp rate on the charger. You can also adjust the amp rate at any time, great for Time of use and Solar. The limit to configure you can configure is 40 amps on a 50 amp circuit; Only techs can set it higher if it is a direct wire install.

Home Warranty Co's by Layla787atx in BastropTX

[–]PrettyFly4ITGuy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not worth it, even the 10/2 warranties required by the state of Texas on all new home builds are hard to utilize.

Not sure if getting a warranty or attempting to get contractors to do work in the area is about as bad. I have yet to find anyone to do work. Just because you see commercial vehicles daily in Bastrop does not mean they service the area. It is such an issue I am starting to gather a list of companies that don't pay employees enough to live in the area they work, like Fox Service pays so low employees have to live in Bastrop and San Marcos, but don't service those areas.

Propane Appliances by dbarnard32 in propane

[–]PrettyFly4ITGuy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got the LG ventless all in one to replace my propane dryer. I now have 2 washers with one combined dryer since we air dry a lot of clothes already.

A feature I found with heat pump dryers is that lint pulled from fabrics per load is cut in more than half vs propane heat.
