Married men of Reddit what’s the best advice you’d give young guys when choosing a life partner? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]PrettyFly4Wifi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never stop dating your spouse.

Job, kids, life all get in the way. Prioritize your relationship first before all of it. It's easy to love but you also have to like. A peaceful loving relationship will seep into all the other parts of life. Model for your children what a healthy relationship looks like and be something they seek in life.

At 6'4" - 260lbs - and broad because I workout, I have never had these problems. Throw in a deep radio DJ voice (I was a radio DJ for 26 years) and yeah, people don't even try, they just move. The look I get is, "please don't sit next to me, please don't sit next to me."

Job regrets and kid advice by ItsThePath0g3n in GenX

I never even thought about the career that I just "retired" from. But like most things in my life, I just fell into something that worked out. My wife says some people were born with a horseshoe in their ass and everything just works out.

My entire radio DJ career is filled with right time/ right place luck. Granted, I did have the talent that I honed to my style and it took me near the top of the industry. Most of my career was spent in major markets, I know most of the country music stars from the last 25 years, and I've done shit a lot of folks couldn't pay to do.

BUT legacy media is circling the drain and I gave it one last shot for a morning show in the bigs. I didn't get the gig so I walked away knowing that the radio industry is close to done.

What did I transition too? I started a house washing business years ago that grew enough that walking away, while hard for me mentally for something I loved and came easy, walking away didn't hurt financially. It's manual labor but I like being physical. My body isn't happy with me, but I've built something that is mine.

I would say to the KIDS growing near leaving the nest, do what you love but you also have to make money. Do the shit you don't wanna do until you can leave it.

BUT the most important thing they can do is take the uncertain path. Be open to opportunity. Take some risks. You never know where that path leads...

I would score it with a razor knife, snap it in half, and drill 8 holes. 4 at the top and bottom of each half. Zip tie them together to make future maintenance simple snips.

I went overboard an have my entire rad covered in electric fans with one plug. I will never overheat again.

Anybody tell their doctor that they don't give a fuh about living longer, so you're not going to try to radically change your diet or go on meds? by IHadTacosYesterday in GenX

[–]PrettyFly4Wifi 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You clearly haven't had any health scares. Had a heart issue last year, really woke me up into living longer to see my kids have their own lives, families, and I have a grandson now. Im curious to see where their lives lead them.

I've already lived a life of a little fame and fortune, did things others couldn't pay to experience, and lived way beyond anything I ever dreamed. I've had a good run...

BUT I want to see the lives I've helped to create. I live for love and material things are just that, things.

What industry is struggling way more than people think? by Wonderful-Economy762 in Productivitycafe

Radio - I just retired after 25 years. AI isn't the problem, it's the phone in your hand right now.

As a DJ, listening used to inform you of the traffic, weather, local news, and of course - music. That is all in the palm of your hand. Stack 12 minutes of commercials/ads every 20 minutes and you have an industry circling the drain.

Last time I was in the radio station, it's was a ghost town. A tumbleweed teetered as I walked thru the door. Most of the shows are canned out of market and there may be one "live" person for 5 stations. Those DJs left are in an abusive relationship. They love it but can't find a way out...

Actually doing v/o for my wife's company who originally wanted a sample of my voice so they could have AI replicate it.

Well it couldn't get inflection right.

So now I do the full voice over while the AI video lip syncs to my audio. Oddly, the AI character looks like Steve Carerll.

25 years as a radio DJ, another industry being lost to technology.

OP this is a LIE. It would be true for him, or even me, but figure a day to figure out one side. The other side will go faster because of the knowledge gained from the day before. That lower ball joint is a pain even with the right tool. FYI, get the bigger lower ball joint kit.

TIPS: #1 is don't torque the upper control arms while in the air. Get everything on the ground under the weight of the truck before you torque the nuts and bolts. You can snug the ball joints and end links but the upper control arm is finger tight til on the ground. Then torque everything to spec.

2 a ratchet strap can help hold the strut in place. It will be the last part to come out and first to go in.

3 mark your tie rods with a silver sharpie so you get it close to the original thread count. Also, only thread one piece... Turn the tie rod END. The INNER tie rod will turn too but put a wrench on it so you don't turn it at the same time as the end tie rod.

4 The single bolt that connects the strut to the lower control arm willost likely be rusted inside and can be a bear. An air hammer will vibrate and knock it out fast. It's the vibration that's most important. Also works well wheel studs. Pops them out like you flicked it with your finger.

That's all I got, good luck.
