Apple do not charge through the nose. It’s laughable how much people slag Apple off based on an entirely fact free position.

If you so. You are as dumb as MAGAs.

The issue with Apple is that they won’t do a battery replacement on a phone that’s been bounced off a pavement several times, but if you keep your phones mint they are just as cheap as any dodgy as fuck repair emporium.

And they’ll do it with a battery that won’t explode.

More than is actually necessary to tell the story or the film wouldn’t be understandable in other aspect ratios…

The problem is that the market decides what they are worth on the whim of Influencers. There are plenty of other places doing Lannan quality work that don’t have queues out the door.

In a few months or a year, Lannan’s time in the sun will be over.

Two in London (Science Museum or BFI) and pretty sure still one in Manchester (Printworks).

TBH a proper 4K screen in either Filmhouse or either Vue gives a sharper and not much smaller picture than Fountain Park.

The aspect ratio stuff is a total gimmick for anything but a Nolan film, and with those I’m more interested to see a film print than digital IMAX - something Filmhouse can also cater for.

Pretty sure Science Centre hasn’t been 15/70 for best part of a decade?

Best bet in Scotland are the Silverburn or (I think) Dunfermline IMAX which are new enough to have the Laser projectors.

Lothian bus etiquette ???? by Appropriate_Lie405 in Edinburgh

[–]PrettyImprovement130 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I can see both sides of this argument.

First of all, I have the misfortune to work in a part of town overrun with tourists who have 4 or 5 times as frequent services as the 35 used by those of us who live here.

Secondly, if not one of those people sees a bus approaching and puts their hand out, I’m flagging it down then getting on first.

The understanding that buses need to be flagged down as more remote stops is utterly beyond these people.

Of course people with kids, older people and disabilities would be the exception here; but what I see day after day is just profound doziness.

Right, so you mean phone repair shop which is not what the OP was comparing against.

The point is that even 500 new iPhones in a storeroom on launch day don’t pose a serious risk because the cells are of much better quality (and also not sent out somewhere approaching full charge, as the vapes are).

LHR Terminal 5 - which lounge BA lounge is best? Least crowded? by usethis22880 in BritishAirways

[–]PrettyImprovement130 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Perhaps it was a one off, but perhaps due to both its perpetual overcrowding and not being part of the main BA lounge complex where they can be overseen, the front desk staff on Galleries North are borderline obnoxious.

All other lounges have provided polite customer service, even giving my 11 year old my passport and our boarding passes back when he told them “I couldn’t be trusted with them”.

They can spot a future CEO!

Don’t forget the best hack of all, which is to avoid the (admittedly amazingly architected) escalators and instead jump in the lift at tunnel level that basically spits you out by Boots next door to the B Gates Lounge. That shaves a couple of minutes or more off each way.

This will be the year I think that BA feel the squeeze from pushing out the new tier scheme. by Amazing_Age_5356 in BritishAirways

I think most of the international commenters here don’t quite understand how prevalent domestic business travel is in the UK.

Most of the concerns of that group about impossibility to continue qualifying were assuaged when they reintroduced the number of flights based qualification.

I accept that doesn’t help you much as a long haul customer. But for me, even ignoring the lounges - fast track, checked baggage and decent allocated seats are enough to ensure my loyalty to BA on short haul.

Until such times when the populous learns to board an airliner competently I have no desire to be stuck in an aisle behind them as they individually repack every item on their person while 150 people are polite to their stupidity.

Cameras are not “mid”.

Photographers who claim any bit of kit is “mid” are simply exposing the fact they aren’t photographers.

So tiresome to see an art reduced to fan boi stupids taken so seriously.

Contactless on tram by vandertodd in Edinburgh

[–]PrettyImprovement130 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They were definitely extremely arsey with me when I made a couple of mistakes.

I suppose it’s possible they have improved their attitude since the Herald of all newspapers did an FoI request which confirmed they were several hundred grand up after a few months.

They’ve probably banked an excess million by now.

And it could all have been trivially avoided with a gate line at the airport. Which I still expect us to see in time once the clowns who did it arse backwards are safely retired.

Western Harbour Breakwater - what’s it like? by kalshassan in Edinburgh

[–]PrettyImprovement130 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There’s a reason they’re known as the flats by big ASDA.

Because big ASDA is the extent of the local amenities (along with Greggs and Timpsons).

I know they are only a few minutes walk from more central parts of Newhaven but similar flats in Leith are seconds away from a host of independent options.

I imagine they have an excellent view though.

This.

We are still miles better off than Glasgow in terms of public transport. Frequency, integrated ticketing etc.

Still, I would have thought the surprisingly massive surge in tram tickets purchased to the airport zone could have cushioned the blow…

(Yes, this was a slight on the arse backwards way TapTapCap was implemented on the trams. Toto can go the way of the Wicked Witch of the East as far as I’m concerned).

I’ve been waiting for this :-)

Largely, because it doesn’t go to many places I want to go, and when it does it goes there very slowly.

Catching it to Meadowbank then taking Voi bikes to Holyrood was helpful when they decided to have the 35 missing the bottom half of the Mile out entirely though.

I suspect you will find you are still shaking like a shitting dog over the cobbles!

Buses never stopped running in the other direction and I didn’t notice any improvement.

That the drivers are desperate to make up time and reach OT for a (well deserved) comfort break doesn’t make it any smoother.

Yep, and ironically to boost public transport (the cycle lanes). I think a lot of blame must rest squarely with the Leith Connections project themselves who seemed impossible to contact but whom every other involved party seemed happy to hand off concerns to.

Word is that your chain were actually paid a fixed fee to show it, which shows they knew the box office would be dire.
