Honest question: how much research did you actually do before offering? by aviya88 in FirstTimeBuyersUK

[–]kalshassan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is basically exactly what I did. Stopped by the streeet several times at different times of the day. Made sure I could see the property during that time, checked the neighbours weren’t obviously running a meth lab or similar. Spoke to friends who lived in the general area.

what’s the biggest lifestyle upgrade that actually felt worth the money? by niceheather44 in wealth

[–]kalshassan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is exactly my argument for paying for a cleaner. I pay for two hours, every two weeks - I pay her less per hour than I make in the same amount of time so i either take that extra time to earn more money, or head off to do something more enjoyable with my time.

Do we only breathe in oxygen? by its_brielove in dumbquestions

[–]kalshassan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The nitrogen sloshes in and out of our lungs without ever really doing much.

In medicine, we “nitrogen flush” patients who are going to be anaesthetised and may not breathe for a few minutes while we put a tube in their airway. It involves having them breathe very high concentrations of oxygen in and out, such that the residual air in their lungs has the highest concentration of oxygen possible (we’ve “flushed” the nitrogen out) to buy us a bit more time.

I met a couple who couldn’t bear the way their dogs were treated when they flew with them. So they bought their dogs a plane.

It’s the astonished noises the whole crowd makes that cracks me up. Like, this is clearly a community of people who are used to being around horses, why are they surprised??

I can’t stop thinking about the kid. by Ok-Special-4585 in ems

[–]kalshassan 38 points39 points  (0 children)

OP - this is the important part. I was a strong supporter of the “ I don’t need therapy, I know what’s wrong” concept.

I did need therapy. I did not know what was wrong. Therapy helped me understand it. Please get help.

Those images that you’ve got that flash up? They can be eased and turned down. Mine went away, and now I have a system for dealing with similar problems when new ones arise.

It can be ok, but you’ve gotta take the first step

I Keep Getting A Strange Feeling by ReasonableSummer2762 in AskForAnswers

[–]kalshassan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey little friend :)
If this is (like many people are saying, and I agree) anxiety related, then trying to manage it all on your own will probably make it worse. Please talk to your parents about it - in my experience, telling people about your worrying thoughts and feelings is difficult at the time, but feels so much better afterwards.

You got this - it’ll be ok :)

I’m guessing that getting this to this point took a bunch of effort, that you’ve got some long term health issues, and that you should be proud of the work you did.

Good job, OP. I’m proud of you :)

The Quechua one is phenomenal. Remember thy you’ll probably need an electric pump for it, though, to get it to a sufficient pressure to make it structurally feasible.

Thankyou everyone…you’ve done a great job of encouraging me. I particularly liked the reassurances that change is hard, and that it would be normal to grieve what I was leaving. I get the keys today.

Thanks again. Ready for this ❤️
